Lol at the folks putting Gallatin outside the top 3... From most reports I'm hearing, Gallatin is regarded as a top 3 team in 5A period. MJ will be good this year as always under Perry, but the lack of offense will be their demise. The Bears are still a legit playoff team though. Hendersonville likely won't make the playoffs this year, imo. Beech should sneak in. I think the 4th place spot goes to either SC or WC. So, here's my prediction:

1.)Gallatin (scary good)

2.)MJ (good defense, wing-t sucks)

3.)Station Camp (good athletes, poor coaching, also wing-t sucks)

4.)Wilson Central (showed signs of improvement last year)

5.)Beech (no Haymer, no Neal, No Zinchini)

6.)Hendersonville (got smoked by Smyrna in scrimmage, lost alot on the lines)

7.)Lebanon (new staff, new system, not much community support these days)

8.)Portland (lets be honest, it's Aric coaching Portland...)

why do we put the WAVE outside of the top 3 ?

simple - you green wave fans dream big and think you are the kings of Sumner Co football - each and every single year, the same from the wave faithful , we are great etc etc etc - overated and until you make a good deep run into the playoffs then consider yourself back

Granted, there is a group of Gallatin folks that live in the glory days, but the majority realize the shortcomings in the playhoffs. With that said, to not say they have one of the most talented teams in the district is a reach. The playoffs are a different animal in high school and Gallatin hasn't mastered that yet. Interesting fact, Gallatin has been put out by a finalist 4 out of the last 5 years.

lets analyze what you say

1.) G should be in top 3

2.) MJ's offense sucks (avg 35.5/12 games......G avg 22/11 games) SUCK....think not

3.) SC their offense did suck! will not finish at 3rd

4.) WC their offense will also suck!! (In your eyes); they are back to wing offense

5.) B they did lose some good skill *note the suck wing did 31.5/11 games; you did 22

6.) H probably some big holes to fill!! *note another suck offense (avg 25.6/15 games)..you did 22!

7.) L too much skill to be this low..but "O" will suck; another wing bunch

8.) P wrong classification and league.

Wow that is a nice avg but didn't you get beat by that 22 avg last year? And the year before when MJ did beat Gallatin weren't y'all sitting at home while we were still playing in the quarter-finals??

And for anyone else who doubts Gallatin is king of Sumner Co football....we have a winning record against every Sumner County foe....and it ain't even close. So yes all of us Gallatin supporters do enjoy our kingdom. All hail the Mighty Green Wave!!!

I don't know what you been watching the last few years. MJ's offense has put up impressive numbers and will continue this year. It has been the defense that has been unpredictable.

On a serious note:

#1 Gallatin- 5 three year starters, strong senior leadership, size, speed and experience, several young player surprises in the spring, have a few holes to fill, new OC calling the offensive plays could be the tipping point

#2 Mount Juliet- with Perry at the helm they will always be competitive, I believe they have some good numbers returning, have some speed

#3 Station Camp- good backfield speed with experience, coach under pressure to produce

#4 Beech- more and more impressed with Crabtree, lost alot but played really good in the spring

#5 Lebanon- good senior class and new optimism with a new head coach

#6 Hendersonville- not a good spring, Hatfield has ups and downs and he may have a down year with this Commando bunch, lost a lot of good quality linemen

#7 Wilson Central- may be better than advertised but just a huge ?

#8 Portland- need more size, need more speed, need more numbers, not a tough outside the district schedule could get them confidence and a few wins

1. Gallatin - Freakin' loaded.

2. MJ - Chowbay will be District MVP.

3. Hendersonville - like always, they will reload.

4. SC - Last two freshman classes were undefeated, the O and D lines are deep and talented.

5. WC - I know I am biased, but the Wildcats have a lot of speed in the junior and sophomore classes, enough to compete for a playoff spot.

6. Beech - Last two freshman classes were subpar, great coaching, but will fall hard because of the last two graduating classes.

7. Lebanon - Maynard is a stud. Other than that they are a wildcard.

8. Portland - As a native Portlandian, I wish them well.

I am pretty solid on positions 1 and 2, 3-4 and 5-7 are interchangeable.

Not 100% on this one, but I am hearing that Beech is getting a powerhouse running back. He's young (sophomore), but supposed to be a machine. He was supposed to be the starting running back for a D-II team this year and the parents are supposedly moving him.

You are 2-5 against Beech and Hendersonville since 08. Your crown is slipping.....

    • I don't know what's going on in the town of McMinnville, but I've read this and it's disturbing.  I'm a "player" person, and I want what's best for the player. If a player gets cut off the team because she said the "F word" then good grief. I mean, come on guys. I wish there was a way for the player to transfer to a different program and just play ball. There are a lot of athletes that are stuck because they're in crappy situations regarding their team/coach. This is player just happens to be one them.
    • Won't happen. College coaches will back the coach every time and it cost this young lady her senior season. Looks like the player may be right on this one. School let her  go after one season. This stuff happens more than you think.
    • “No college is going to offer a scholarship to a player that is kicked off of the team.” For language? I’m not seeing that as a dealbreaker.
    • Why did the coach get rehired after she was let go as an assistant by the former Warren County coach and the current AD?? Is that accurate?? I am very familiar with situations like this. Suprised lawsuits haven't happend before. If the coach unfairly let the player go, I think she has a shot because it cost her a scholarship. No college is going to offer a scholarship to a player that is kicked off of the team. Not going to happen. There are bad hires like this a bunch and kids are treated unfairly by coaches that can't coach a lick and have super long ropes somehow. Amazing how some of these coaches get hired and keep their job.
    • I am going to assume you are not a lawyer, and most reasonable lawyers would not say the lawsuit has a zero percent chance in court. I agree with you that a coach has the ability to dismiss anyone from a team. However, Ms. Winfree was never presented with the opportunity to present her witnesses and have them tell the coaches and administrators what they heard. A lawyer could better explain the lawsuit and the grounds to you. Before you start making wild assumptions about the lawsuit, would it be too much to ask that you do a little legal research first? The lawsuit is dealing with due process, loss of property, and defamation.   You can read the lawsuit here: https://bdnewsletter.files.wordpress.com/2024/04/doc-1-complaint-filed-4-18-2024.pdf
