Humboldt @ Jo Byrns

Moto, let me ask you a question. Our kicking game at South Pittsburg is not great. I have been telling Grider that he needs to train those boys to lift their leg up above their head when they are learning to kick the football. I was listening Friday night and when those boys would kick the balls, it sounded like a dud. How much air pressure does that Adkins man at Joe Byrns keep in his balls? I think Grider needs to add some air to ours so that when our boys kick it, the ball will go further and higher. You think im joking but im not.

Roy I got to thinking...it's not about how much pressure is in the balls but rather how much pressure is on the balls. You want to make sure you apply the right amount of pressure to the balls and in the right spot. If you can get these two things right the balls will shoot up really quick. Be warned though...if Grider does this he'll need to be coaching from behind because he may get hit in the face.

The Milan score impresses me too! If Milan is the typical Milan team I've seen and Humbodlt held them to 10 points then I smell trouble for JB. I tell you this though...if we can get the short passing game going like we did tonight then we'll give ourselves a shot. We'll have to get rid of the ball a lot sooner though! Brandon did a great job of finding the open man tonight. Defensively...gulp...gonna be a tough one. Sink or Swim...

I dont believe Milan is Milan thusfar..Vikings have improved but IMO are undersized team-wise..JB will have their hands full ,but should win in a squeaker

Well Springfield plays Thursday night on tv which makes it easy on me living in Clarksville and I can come to this game Friday night. This is 1 of the games I am most interested in this whole season. I am pretty pumped for this 1; usually not this much anticipation for a JBS game until 3rd/4th round of the play offs. I somehow wish the JBS players could go into this game not worrying about winning/losing but rather a carefree attitude realizing that this game was scheduled to make them better instead of padding their record. I guess take the pressure out of the equation and play as hard as they can, have fun, and let the winning/losing take care of itself. Having said that, I was that age and in their shoes at 1 time and winning was very important to me and I doubt I could have have taking that attitude into a scrimmage, much less a game. Anyway, good luck JBS, really looking forward to it.....

Humboldt should be ready for this game, against SF they played subs the last seven minutes of the game and that when SF scored two touchdowns one I'n the last minute of the game. So, don't think the game was close the first team defense played a good game but offense had a 119 yards of penalties so hopefully we can get that under control!

Moto, your joking. If Grider gets hit in the face, then it was a real bad kick because Grider is on the sideline. How much air pressure does that Adkins man put in his balls for his kickers to kick?

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
