Excellant advice.

I can't speak for the "media", but many posters here on Coach T gave a lot of recognition and credit for the accomplishments of East Lit last year. I know that I did. Their run from Region play on was amazing and unexpected given their play during the district tournament was perhaps lackluster (or at least below standard for a team capable of being state runner-up). East Lit caught fire at the right time and made the most of it.

Give credit to the kids on the floor. Don't belittle their accomplishment by taking credit yourself.

Doctorno and coachrus, you must COMPREHEND what I am saying and not blindly give me your advice. If you read the post carefully, the point that I was making is that they will not reach their full potential because of the lack of motivation that they will have without me being their to motivate them. For the record, I am the epitome of TEAM. I don't need anyone else, especially anyone from a blog, to validate my abilities. A question was asked, and I answered. What people fail to realize, is coaching is about getting the most from your players. It's one of the biggest misconceptions that if a coach feels like their X's and O's are good, the team will be as well. The "ME" references meant that due to my caring about them, and not about winning, propelled us to a great season. Riddle me this, why do you think that they were a doormat until the year that I came? Trust me, it wasn't coincidence.

Doormat is too strong, don't you think? Last year was not East Lit's first trip to the state tournament and there have been many strong East Lit teams in the past. Many times in high school basketball there are cycles that a team can go through beyond their control before it reaches competitive success once again. Youth (physical immaturity and emotional immaturity), lack of varsity experience or not having the same amount of talent year to year are prime examples. Not saying you didn't have an impact since I don't know, but I don't agree with the use of doormat which minimizes the accomplishments of both players and coaches of past teams.

Dareal: I'll keep it short. No one talked about YOUR abilities at all. This question was about TEAMS and how they will do. For someone who thinks they are all about team, you sure toot your own horn a lot. I would suggest that perhaps you are the one who might need to read more carefully.

Good luck to you.

Yeah, there ain't no 'me' in 'team!' Check that. Yes, there is, I guess, if you rearrange some letters. Anyway...

Can't y'all figure this out? 'darealchUmp' is like 'mayhem' on that insurance commercial. He ain't a real person. Everybody knows EL did their own thing last year...ON THEIR OWN!...and this ding-dong didn't have anything physical, spiritual or emotional invested in it.

And 'CPA4Ever,' I ain't gonna lie, I miss Craig, not only because of his basketball skills but because he's a good kid. But, I don't miss him so much that I would want him back the way CPA got him. That just wouldn't be right. Also, read that part about pride and being humble...again. I don't think you 'got it' the first time. :thumb:

Doctorno, I don't toot---just state facts. Whatever you think doesn't really matter to me at all, for the record. But, thanks for the well-wishes. And kbrks, I can see your angle. The context that I used should have been...East Lit has been TREATED like a doormat. It's a fact that every coach that I met this year or spoke with really even discussed EAST LIT as a contender.

5-Sport, i would be very careful about judging the persons who post on CoachT about a game assuming you are qualified to judge who has pride and who is or is not humble. Especially since you choose to logo your posts with a statement about the Bible and truth. I've read the Bible daily for over 35 years, and it tells me to "let your speech be seasoned with salt", and "judge not that you not be judged", and "remove the log from your eye before you try to remove the speck from another's eye". Then you post:

"Heads up - all students at CPA are recruited

...and don't forget, RICH!"

-- is that type of shot to fellow Christians at CPA consistent with your signature:

"The Bible tells us the TRUTH. Our problem is, we'd rather believe what the world tells us sometimes!"

How about a little humbleness (and grace) on your end, Brother?

There doesn't seem to be much interest in 10AA basketball so far this year. I wonder if that is telling?

Still football time, but getting closer.Check out the 14AA thread with four or five posts all summer! If sending a team from the same district to the state finals seemingly every season can't generate a little off season talk, what does it take?Good luck to all 10AA schools,it's really early to make a bold statement but I'm thinking that these two districts have a better than average shot to meet-up in the championship game.

In my personal experiances with some of the truly great coaches in high school ball(and a lot of the not so great ones),the better the coach, the less me,my and I you get.The last few posts you've made have assured me that, without knowing as much a who you are,"great" is not a moniker that you will be saddled with.Bragging about accomplishments requiring a group of other people to aquire for you is disgusting in my eyes, and I'll be perfectly happy to remain "blissfuly ignorant"of your identity.

    • Jason Lambert should be the only choice for the Baseball coaching position.
    • From the stats I found online it looks like Gabe Eddington- .484, 44 total hits, 43 runs scored and 42 stolen bases.Meanwhile, on the mound, the Austin Peay commit had a record of 8-2, while compiling 50 innings pitched with an ERA of 1.82. Carson Parrott - 7-0 overall as a starting pitcher with a 1.41 ERA, 95 strikeouts and a save in 53 and 1/3 innings pitched. Parrott hit .392 with 3 home runs, 21 RBIs with a .566 OBP and .716 SLG. Jaxon Walker - .454, 53 hits, 38 RBI’s, 9 HRs.   Not saying the other three aren’t deserving but Quillen had better BA than all three and was just as dominate pitching.  Like I said I don’t know how you leave off the 3a Baseball player of the year last year when he put up better numbers.  I know Greeneville’s Coach wasn’t happy about it saying “I don’t give a s*** what anybody else says. That kid is the best player in Tennessee, and everybody else on our team rises to his level“.  I’m sure winning another State Championship as a junior is more important to Carson than the individual award, it’s just a head scratcher to not be nominated
    • What coach in their right mind would want to come here and set theirself on fire to keep her warm.
    • Shoulder not going to the #### show .   Macon will name the score this year.
    • Plenty of time. The former coach was busy with family and disappeared all summer anyway. Obvious choice has the same family issues. First game is in March 2025.
