Pearl Cohn @ Smith County

Pearl- Cohn probably went into the playoffs with the most deceptive regular season record in the state in 3A. Of their 5 losses, 2 were against good Division II teams and one was against an excellent 6A team with one of Tennessee's 2 best RBs. So only 2 of their losses were against fellow 3A teams----- one was a close loss against a CPA team that's got a chance to be State Champs THEMSELVES, while the other was the only surprise on their resume, a close loss against a David Lipscomb team in a rebuilding year.

So whoever got P-C in the first round was getting a much tougher-than-average first round matchup.

with that said.would you say carthage was overated

I know and that is why I made sure to say that I'm sure it didn't pertain to the majority of those fans.

Good luck next week.

thanks for the well wishes. sc will be back next year and will be fine. thumb[1].gif

you need to do a little more research on that idea. most gville fans could care less about carthage. :thumb:

i'm just speaking on behalf of fans such as seven, croz and myself. thumb[1].gif

You don't have a clue.

Really bad 2nd half for the Owls... Really liked what the Owls done early on... Unfortunately the Jet sweep worked the first time they ran it and and made them think they could run it all night... That play should have been threw out of the playbook this week... No way Stevenson was getting around the corner of that swarming defense.... The seam up the middle was there all night.. Scurlock missed Webb on it on there last drive... He was wide open... I really thought the Owls would win this one and have though all along the winner will be in Cookeville... I still think Smith Co was the better team.. Jalen had taken care of the ball all year and just simply didnt last night.. I wish he would simply realize how good he can be and run hard... Great season Owls..

Outcoached is all I got to say.Worst coaching game of the year.Owls came out 2nd half and played 'not to lose' instead of playing 'to win'.Hats off to Pearl on a near flawless game.I just hate it for the seniors last game to lose on piss poor coaching. To say I am bitter is an understatement. If we can spend thousands on a field and indoor practice facility at least we could hire a decent OC!!!No way Owls are supposed to lose this game.Good Luck to Pearl the rest of the year.

Outcoached? Seriously?

CPA tried to schedule Smith County last year but Coach Maynard said he didn't want to play us because we had an unfair advantage.......wonder how he feels about it now. Better change schedule and get some quality, makes a difference.

////One and done//// This is what happens with a cup cake schedule. It is better to schedule up and maybe take a couple of losses before coming into the playoffs untested 10-0 looks good on paper

I had no idea that losing the turnover battle had anything to do with who a team played throuhout the year. Those of you hanging your hat on a schedule are being facetious.

    • And can you tell me who those two quarterbacks were, and every kid that was put into college from Bearden is a Bearden kid? It’s kind of why they graduated from Bearden.   and I would definitely not consider ETSU “waste”…
    • Most of this is complete gibberish. But the one part I could decipher is putting kids in college. This coaching staff hasn’t put a single Bearden kid in college. They completed wasted one of the best WRs in East TN and have ruined two talented QBs. All because they’re in over their heads.
    • Well, I’d hope the new coaching staff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching staff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.
    • After that first paragraph, I can see why you’re a TA and not a teacher. Have you made the move from South Knoxville to Bearden yet?    Maybe he left because he is an actual teacher and coach, and didn’t want to be associated with a group of foul mouthed middle school coaches who like to pretend they’re big time.
    • Yeah and the coach is gone. Whole bizarre situation here. We played them a couple of times at MTSU last few years. She was a player for sure.
