First off I want to give much respect to BOTH Maryville and Riverdale Programs for being POWERS in Tenn. High School Football since the 90s, BUT I must ask, why are yall on here talking so much about Food? LOL :roflol:

Just Asking :thumb:

Hope the Riverdale QB isn't injured. Is that the same Starter from last season? He was a 10th grader last year right?

I think its just common sense if you are traveling to an area your not familier with you would like to know about good places to eat. The stadium has chick fil a and papa johns, also

Hopefully y'all will get to see #14 this week. Young man throws better on the run than most do sitting in the pocket. Strong arm and runs well also. He has better vision of the field this year and has not thrown many picks.

As to the comment of being able to run on us this year like two years ago, do NOT bet the farm on that this year. You will see far less folks playing BOTH ways this year as in the past and that has helped our defense.

I will bet the Oak Ridge folks that saw last years and this years team could tell a difference after last night. This not playing so many both ways has helped increase the defensive speed and strength in the second half. At the start of the fourth quarter our defensive line was not hung over holding on to their knees trying to get their breath like they were last year.

The one player that impressed folks last year and this year is Adam Davenport. Young man is NOT a finese runner. He is a young bull that arm tackles will not work on. Has fairly good speed for a fullback also.

Another thing that we use FINALLY is a PASS to the TE. Heck the fact we even use the PASS is amazing to some of us.

Looking forward to a really good hard played game that will be injury free, because one team from this one WILL have a hard game the week after for ALL the marbles!

Our season came to an end last night, but it was a great game to watch. Not our year but we'll be back. A couple of my Maryville buddies said Maryville's field was in bad shape last night. Bare spots all over and was very slick and muddy. Anyone else that was there have an opinion on the field conditions? Any thoughts that you guys should go to turf? I know there is plenty of booster money for this if needed.

funny you are talking about the Rebs field...it has rained each week for the last three and it has been play uponst for those three....by the way, what type of field will Alcoa be playing on this week? :roflol:

Good observation there Todd Howell! The question was how was the field. I suggest you Riversdale guys wear the longest cleats you can find. Pooppy we lost last night so we won't be playing.

We plan our trips around the game and food. We use the food as an excuse to get together and have fun before the game. We remember our trips by where we ate and how we did. Do good - eat there again. Lose - new place next time. One rule - need TVs to watch football if it is Thanksgiving Friday. Two years ago at Aubreys was the day after Tiger Woods debacle...

Maryville is a great place for high school football. Its location in the neighborhood reminds me a lot of my childhood in Huntsville walking to Milton Frank Stadium. Great atmosphere. Great fan support who knows when to yell and how to yell.

Smyrna may have created a blue-print for how to play Maryville. Keep it close. Hope to win at the end. But Smyrna was missing its best defender and Robinette was injured in the first half for Maryville.

Riverdale may have to go with second string QB but program is fortunate to have the depth to have a senior as backup that would probably start for most other teams. The deciding factor will probably be Riverdale's defense vs. Maryville's offense. Whoever QBs for Riverdale, the ground game could be effective. But you don't win a track meet or WAC game at Maryville. An SEC game, you might have a chance.... Looking forward to making the trip again.

You are correct oldrebel. Joe Rob is in charge of the Black Hole.

After a season of freshman games, middle school games, band competitions, soccer matches (several different teams) and varsity games, most high school fields have taken a beating by now. And football season, especially late in the year, isn't growing season. I have a hunch that the black hole will be in great shape come Friday night.

    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
