Article from JC Press has Maryville & GQ's record being 170-6 from 2000-2011 with 9 state championships, 2 losses in the finals and only once not making the finals. DB & GC's record being 120-23 with only 2 semi-final appearances during the same time frame. Looks like Maryville might have a slight edge in playoff experience here. Unbelievable run by the Maryville program. Really don't see how this is possible, no matter what level of football it is. What type of system does GQ and coaching staff have in place to keep doing this with players changing each year? Whatever it is, please send it on up to Knoxville as they are in desperate need. Looking at these #'s makes one wonder if DB should even make the trip?

Maryville doesn't have any kind of secret program going on. What they do is pretty basic and right out there for everybody to see. They just have all the pieces in place from little league all the way up the seniors. And a very good high school coaching staff. It really is a simple system that works. The most amazing thing about it to me is nobody else in the state has tried to copy the system. Not to my knowledge anyway. Everybody involved would have to be on the same page and working toward the common goal. State Championships. In Kingsport we have a broken system where we can't get everybody working together. Some make it a point to work against the system. Our guys basically start learning football as Freshman.

    • I remember very well watching things change in the late 80's and yes it's all schools. Most people that are in charge today have any idea because they were raised and taught under this social experiment so they don't have a clue. Anyone that does see the truth for what it is usually try and hide it by blending in so that the School Gestapo doesn't round them up and take them to the Fuhrer ( kindly putting it ). Yes it is all schools not just Maryville. This train ride is not headed in a good direction and if the public had seen a movie of what's happening now back in 1980 everyone would have been headed home afterwards to change underware.
    • Hoping to make the playoffs.
    • You are so correct!  It’s really 99.9% of academia want to change to way that education is not only taught but the way it is viewed.  The pendulum has definitely swung as far to the left as possible and eventually will swing to the right much too far.  I have always  said that politics and one’s personal religious views need to stay out of education,  but for the last 40 years education has been running full throttle to what we have today.  If the social experiment that we are currently experiencing continues it is only a matter of time before the public school system in the USA completely collapses and all kids attend private schools or even worse don’t go to school.
    • He was a bruise but Aaron Dykes is HVA’s best RB ever.
    • I am talking about what they both did for their team. They both carried their team for four years while they were both there. I wasn’t really comparing them that would be unfair. Bishop is on a level of his own.
