9-AAA Prediction time

I think that is the overall theme to the district this year, depth. Looks like several teams do not have a lot after the starters. Seems to be a lot of parity as well. I have a feeling this district will be very competitive and teams will win the majority of their out of district games.

That being said, I cannot make the scrimmage this afternoon and anyone going to the Gallatin/ Shelbyville scrimmage feel free to post what happened.

Competitive but, Shelbyville had a couple more horses. Final was 20-16. Gallatin JV being 7-0 in that score. The Wave were physical but did give up a few big plays. Gallatin also had a couple starters out as I am sure Shelbyville did as well. Freshman looked good again. I believe it was a tie with a touchdown called back.

Gallatin looked decent against a very fast Shelbyville team this afternoon. Was really impressed with the improvement on the offensive line. Receivers also seem to be coming along nicely. Players that stuck out to me: Jordan Harper (RB), Cory Coggins (WR), and Tristan Rogers (WR/DB). Minus a few starters/big role players, but that can only help depth wise. Both offenses seemed to be clicking pretty well. Gallatin's D is a little further behind. Lots of missed assignments that can be fixed. The effort and basics (tackling) were there. Short turn around with the jamboree this Friday against Summit.

I had the score 25-22 Shelbyville, 4 TD's for them, 1 extra point, 3 TD's for the Wave, 2 extra points and a safety.  I thought the offense looked good, and it has the potential to be very exciting this year.  The defense gave up some big plays due to some missed assignments and taking some bad angles.  Hopefully it will come around with a little more work and experience.  I can't say enough about the great weather, and it looks to be great again for the jamboree tomorrow night.

Good night last night for the Commandos and future Commandos as the HHS varsity defeated White House 34-21 (1's against 1's 27-0), the freshman defeated White House 14-0 (2 series apiece). Also in middle school action Ellis defeated Shafer 48-6 and Hawkins defeated Station Camp 42-16. Varsity still has a long way to go and a lot to improve on to be competitive in 9-AAA.

After all Jamborees have been completed, Beech is still most impressive. MJ will always be tough but they have lost size from previous two years. WC will be good but not impressive as the 8-0 start last year. Hendersonville was and will be better that their record last year. SC on paper looks to be a tough team but time will tell. I personally don't see them being higher than 3rd in district and maybe down to 5th. Portland will be slightly better but the district will be more even this year as they will still be bottom half. Lebanon has a few athletes, not yet a team. Coach has a big task ahead but there is an upside with new facilities and attitude. Now, for my beloved Green Wave, much improvement, much to go. Momentum is good, however, Summit would not compete in 9AAA. I could see 7-3 or 3-7. I believe this team is the biggest question mark in the district and will grow with every game, series, and snap of the ball.
