All I'm saying is I have heard MHS faithful saying a one dimensional offense can't beat them hence an easy question did dahaven pass the ball last year jv coach sparky

well nutless dame all i'm asking is hville's line and backs as good as whitehavens? btw-i've never coached jv-been special teams coordinator at 2 different high schools, coached rb's, olb's, oline et d-line at the high school level, been a co head coach in middle school (we won a championship) and been a defensive coordinator et special team s coordinator in middle school as well as o et d line and lb coach on the middle school level-i've also coached my son's basball teams and my nieces softball team-unlike most posters i don't hide behind a screen name-i picked coachspanky cuz when i was coaching at murvil middle that's what the kids called me-most people in murvil don't know my real name-but they do know spanky

It was the two dimensional defense that beat the Rebels.  One dimension with pads and one with stripes. :)

I was coming back across the river from court in Knox County this morning and I noticed two large buses headed in the opposite direction.  They were being escorted in the front and rear by APD.  It didn't really hit me what it was until I saw the one car in the caravan with Alcoa flags.  It was the Tornadoes heading to Cookeville.

I found it a little odd that they had a police escort.  Is this normal practice?  Does Maryville do this?  Only for state or long(er) trips?

Yes MPD provides an "escort" to the game, but usually not away from it. You can count on Gary to be there tomorrow for our Rebels..... He told his wife one year that she would have to have the baby on her own if the Rebels were playing for the championship....and they did, and he was at the game!!!............RatPack..............

Yes, remember that year. The little fellar was born on Nov 30th, the game was on the Dec. 3rd. Close call, but I believe her Doc. Was a Rebel Fan.

    • Never said I thought it was a smart decision. I'm scratching my head at it too.
    • If he wanted to play QB he should have either went to Heritage or William Blount and had a real good chance there. In stead he'll be exactly what he was going to be at Maryville. They already know who their QB is going to be in 2025 and it ain't going to be him.
    • Easier said than done. The man who ran for 250+ yards and 3TDs is gonna be back….and a lot bigger.
    • plus it removes the pressure around winning.
    • You are correct.   The teacher's pay scale is virtually the same in Knox County, now, as it is at Oak Ridge.   The coaching supplements are still higher at Oak Ridge, from what I was told, but not a huge difference.   Plus, Rusty is going from a position coach to an OC position, which is what he was at South Doyle and where his comfort zone is.  And from a special education teaching slot to a PE teaching slot.  There is a lot of positivity in that move without even considering the coaching aspect.   Anybody who sees something negative here is just looking for negativity to begin with.  But some live in that world.   Really good hire for Brent.  He now has two experienced and quality coordinators and can concentrate on being a head football coach.
