Neither has Nick Saban. Ever consider that Black QB's just dont find Spurrier's offense appealing, given that it is pretty much a pro offense with not alot of room for improvisation? Coach Spurrier does not strike me as a coach who cares about the color of a player's skin. If you recruit that way, you dont last long in the SEC

Saban started Jamarcus Russell at LSU and recruited Star Jackson and Phillip Sims to Alabama.

I've been watching high school football since 1958 and have seen a lot of good ones.  As far as numbers go Tanner Williams lit Mo East up for almost 900 yards and who knows how many TD's in 2 games I saw him play.  I've seen all of these play and here are some of my best: Spurrier was at Science Hill when I was in high school and pretty dang good.  Another from that era is Steve Sloan from Bradley where he won mythical football as well as basketball and baseball state titles in the same year if I'm not mistaken.  Todd Kelley from Rhea and Shane Kelley from Sevier were really good and I also saw the show Locke and Matthew put on that night.  Phillips from Sullivan South was somebody that did whatever he had to do to take his team to a win.  Charlie High has to go on the list because of sheer numbers.  But I think the best I saw at doing whatever he had to do was Todd Helton.  He could scramble around and find the open man better than anyone I've ever seen.  He was quite an athlete.

Maryville has had some good ones. Cade Thompson,Brent Burnett,Patton Robinette,John Garrett and any QB to play under George Quarles.

Alcoa had some good ones with Randall Cobb,Michael George,Austin Tallent and Cokie Earls.

Here are some great ones I saw.

Brent Stockstill 2012 Siegel. Best QB I ever seen a Maryville team play against.

Charlie High CAK 2011 and 2012.  If not for him Alcoa wins 10 straight titles. Awesome QB.

Shawn Witten 1997-98 Elizabethon. Until I saw Stockstill Witten was best QB Maryville faced.

Curt Phillips 2007 Sullivan South. Gave Maryville fits in 2007.

Anthony Hayes 2009 White Station. Him and Julian Burton totally destroyed Maryville in 2009 State Title game.

Shane Kelly 1999 Sevier County. He carried Sevier County to the 1999 5A Title. May be the best I have seen.

have not read the thread but Toki McCray (hope spelling is correct) was good at MHS in the pre GQ years. Never saw him play but I hear that Spurrier kid was pretty good at Science Hill.

    • I remember very well watching things change in the late 80's and yes it's all schools. Most people that are in charge today have any idea because they were raised and taught under this social experiment so they don't have a clue. Anyone that does see the truth for what it is usually try and hide it by blending in so that the School Gestapo doesn't round them up and take them to the Fuhrer ( kindly putting it ). Yes it is all schools not just Maryville. This train ride is not headed in a good direction and if the public had seen a movie of what's happening now back in 1980 everyone would have been headed home afterwards to change underware.
    • Hoping to make the playoffs.
    • You are so correct!  It’s really 99.9% of academia want to change to way that education is not only taught but the way it is viewed.  The pendulum has definitely swung as far to the left as possible and eventually will swing to the right much too far.  I have always  said that politics and one’s personal religious views need to stay out of education,  but for the last 40 years education has been running full throttle to what we have today.  If the social experiment that we are currently experiencing continues it is only a matter of time before the public school system in the USA completely collapses and all kids attend private schools or even worse don’t go to school.
    • He was a bruise but Aaron Dykes is HVA’s best RB ever.
    • I am talking about what they both did for their team. They both carried their team for four years while they were both there. I wasn’t really comparing them that would be unfair. Bishop is on a level of his own.
