Wise nuff not to comment on that one.

What did you think about #30 for alcoa last night? An old raider that seemed all over the field. He's a football player.

What is the word on #2?

Honestly i just do not understand why Fulton then does not schedule teams that would be a challenge to play. Do you not think the starters would like to stay in more than one quarter? That's what I do not understand about Fulton . They send their middle school over to nashville to play MBA and BA yet the varsity plays the worst early season schedule I have seen for a good team. Liberty tech was whipped by BA last night but have 4 of the top team in their divisions on their schedule ... I just do not get it

Alcoa and west both dropped us and bearden and Powell are two 5a/6a programs that are traditionally good that happen to be way down. Fulton has never been afraid to play anybody... We are just probably at our peak of our program outside of the 2006 team maybe. Talent around Knox county seems to be dropping as a whole at a lot of schools.

Officiating is questionable at best, BUT, the fact that Alcoa at one point had more penalty yards than total yards says it all. Maryville is that good.

Officiating crew was from Knoxville. Watching the game again on video. Alcoa early on got away with some real blatant blocks below the knees, taunting and so on. When I saw the game live at the stadium, I knew Alcoa was in trouble when they lost their cool so early.

I have said it for years... if you can only run the ball without effectively throwing it then Maryville will beat you.  Alcoa basically refused to throw the football, as Rankin always does, and Gaylor stuffed the box and the boys shut the Tornadoes down.  If an opposing team can run a balanced offense then I think they will actually be able to put up some points on our stingy defense.

In his pre game radio interview, I heard Rankin say they were going to be  more multiple. More formations, etc. All they did was move Tyson out on the wing. Speed of Maryville was a big factor.

Deion the sad thing is your post applies to several games I have seen over the years at different locations and different classifications. It is not a Maryville/Alcoa problem. It is a T$$AA problem and it is an abomination from Memphis to Mountain City.

Two additional members on most crews on field at all times. They are paid about $100.00 per game. Problem is most of the officials I have talked to do not understand that it is better to warn a player once before thawing flag unless it is blatant. Some crews do that. Last nights Knoxville crew took control very early and did warn two Alcoa players about taunting. I though overall the officiating was B+.  My opinion only and I have never been nor want to be an official.

    • Congratulations to the Warrior baseball team winning the Region Championship.  Last night the football team beat Franklin Co 33-0 in their spring scrimmage. Warriors looked very good. Missing a few players who were playing baseball but still absolutely dominated. A lot of young ones got in halfway through the 3rd when the score reached 33-0. QB Tilton Pickett looked very sharp.  Sam Pickett is on another level this season. Seems to have put on 15 to 20 lbs in the off season and added a step as well. Transfer from last year Williamson caught numerous balls and is very elusive. Lots of athletes on this team. Defense was smothering and will only get better. The head coach from Sewanee was in attendance and offered 2 kids after the game. Could be a special year.
