Heard it was official last night Alcoa is staying in 2A. Daily Times in Maryville says they are moving up in this morning's addition.

??

Coach Rankin text me last night at 6:15 eastern last night that they were staying in 2A.  Not sure why or who changed that.

..... so the " Great George Quarles Don't want to play the Biggest and the Best in the State " was meant as a Compliment ??? Ya right Admiral ....

Still looking for where I call him or anyone a coward.

Anyway, the picture is becoming a bit more clear now that the deadline has passed. Will the TSSAA release a final list of where all school stand? Will they release a list of the districts for all classes? Or will we have to wait until after they vote on it to see what they decide??

Just got this from the TSSAA website, might me old news, but anyway:

For the purposes of Division I Football Classification, the following schools have notified the state office they wish to move up:

Class 2A to 3A
Alcoa High School
Goodpasture Christian School

Class 3A to 4A
Memphis East High School
Lipscomb Academy

Class 4A to 5A
Clinton High School
Gibbs High School
Kirby High School

Class 5A to 6A
Maryville High School

With Maryville High School requesting to move up to Class 6A, LaVergne High School they agreed moved to Class 5A.

Yeah, check that. I went and poured a big cup of red koolaid and my concerns have vanished. If the old ball coach wants to play in some new areas, then I guess we will play in some new areas. Maybe stars knows where several of us can get in on a timeshare in the kingsport area. Or maybe I can finally visit the childhood home of the legend Ron Wright.

At the very least, the routine visits up I-81 and down I-75 should open up some new fertile recruiting grounds. Stars may want to check and see what kind of garbage service that sensebaugh (sp?) family has. We may be able to start a new pipeline.

It may be interesting to know if alcoas coach has heard about some of the F5's trips to tellico plains back in the day.

    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
