It's hysterical all of these terrible east teams that have over 100 replies so far on their threads and this top 100 in the nation showdown isn't even above 50 yet.

I think a lot of it is Blackman hasn't been around that long. They don't have the old fans like Maryville'Alcoa'South Pittsburgh or Trousdale County.

I spent almost 20 years in Texas just outside of Odessa, home of Permian Panthers and at the time one of Texas' biggest baddest football teams. In fact the season Friday Night Lights was being written was the year after graduating.(1988 in case you wondered what season that was) I can say with certainty that everything shuts down for football there and everyone believes Texas football is best, but I gotta hand it to you  fellas here in Middle Tennessee, the coaching, programs and opponents and quality of ball is at a higher level than most states can begin to imagine. The type of programs we have here is what we all wanted back in Texas. Lets GO Blaze fans, Lets  GO Middle Tennessee. Time to show why we are the best district for football anywhere!

Really cool to hear your connection to Permian; I read that book right when it came out. Just wondered if it was fairly accurate; the injury to B Miles etc? They were actually flying to some games back then weren't they? Any way found the book and the football there really interesting.

Good luck to Blackman and safe travels!

Did you know that the guy who wrote that book has visited Maryville High in the past? I was there when he came. And he said he might write a book about maryville's team if they kept it up. But he hasn't done it yet...

Why is it anytime someone mentions east Tennessee u Maryville guys automatically think their talking about the Rebels! I don't get it do u even believe ur own posts when u throw out the Maryville resume! Let me feed ur egos, everyone who knows anything about football in Tn. knows Maryville is the team they want to aspire too! This guy that said hysterical I'm pretty sure he wasn't referring to u guys. Come on get behind a fellow Tn. football team, in the end it will only make everyone here (Tennessee) look better!

The portrayal of B Miles was extremely accurate. Some of the footage of those crazy moves was actual footage of him. If I remember they bused most games. alot of games are 3-4 hours away in west Texas. I believe the only flight they took to a game was the state championship. As i recall the police escort was juts to the airport 20 miles or so away.

So it's " Hysterical " that teams from the East have more fan Support than you guys do ??

Yeah it's an arrogant comment by me, but hey I'm stubborn, the William Blount thread for example those two teams playin this week combine for a 3-14 record, yet they have so many posts? About what? What can they're possibly be to talk about for that long. Sure 20 maybe 30 posts would be enough but it's comical to me. Call me the thread sheriff. Edited by MJGOLDENBEARS

I care about my team and support them win or lose. You got a problem with that?
