During this time of Thanksgiving, we should all take a moment & reflect on what it takes for these young men to get to the semi-finals. We should be very thankful for the hard work and dedication that they have put in-day in and day out-since July. We should be thankful for the coaching staffs-from making sure the kids have the proper equipment to keep them safe to having them game ready. We should be thankful for the fans-both the loyal ones and the haters-for they both inspire teams to be better. We should be thankful to be one of four teams playing, as opposed to the multitudes watching. We live in a day and age where young people have many choices, these young men have chosen to dedicate themselves to their team. Thank you, Monterey and Coalfield-for making the lights shine a little brighter this Friday night. Good Luck!

How is he transferring in. He either has to have a legitimate hardship or sit a year out if he has already played a year of varsity.

If anyone knows the lick on this ,its Coalfield. They've always picked up kids from local schools. Success is the drawing tool and lack of success at the nearby schools is the perfect storm. They know the rules and they'll make sure its legal. Its not like The coach showed up yesterday. This same thing happens at bunches of schools throughout the state. Parents and kids like to play for winners.

    • Why? Low pay. Low budget thanks to the Rotary milking the programs revenue. Foul smell. There are other negative things... Positives: the players and being toward the top of the classification numbers wise.
    • What we have here is an influx of outsiders raining down on the town of Maryville like a swarm of locust trying to change our culture into the same crap they moved away from. I have no issues with anyone coming here but don't bring your politics with you. Most people around here never pay attention to the elections and keep letting the same ole rats and vermin right back in the back door and wonder why things are like they are. The problem at Maryville High is mainly due to letting outsiders get a foothold on control and shove their agenda down everyone's throat. Anyone that leaves there or let's say ranoff are replaced with an outsider with the same mindset. Eventually Maryville High will never be the same as it once was which I'm beginning to believe already but it's only chance of survival are to recruit people that will get in there and reverse the damage that has already happened.

    • Athletics is just a piece. It can help them academically, socially and add confidence. I was still 17 when I finished my first quarter at UT. I was the last to get my driver's license. It's not always just for athletics.
