We are just glad to be there.  I know Hampton will be tough, anyone is tough that makes it to the state final 8.  Can Hampton Run ?  TCA sure thought they could !  Union City will be tough to handle.  We have played tough teams all year and had the Mercy rule on many.  Union City has many weapons, more than most teams.  If you want to compare Hampton to a Virginia team, then we will compare Union City to a Duke or Kentucky Team.  Fan of neither, Union City has the total package and playing at their best and 100% healthy.  WE are and will be ready.  We will have the best coaches in the tournament by far so you won't out coach us for sure.  Our kids go 110% for entire game.  Will transition game you to death.  You better play more than 6 or 7 players also....once again, ask TCA.  Our kids are very classy...very respectful to others.  We will bring a crowd.  This is a very special team so be ready.  We will take one game at a time.  The Boro has been good to the Union  City teams.  Our team also knows what happened in 1960 so that was years ago but will be brought up to our kids.  Should be fun....bring your oxygen, you will need a truck load!

Hampton knows how tough it is going to be. Union City is the obvious favorite and impressive to say the least. With today's technology, it is easy for anyone to pull up videos and watch other teams. I will say that Parker Stewart is the real deal. Once he passes half court he is dangerous. I really like his quick release too. Great fundamentals.  Deberry, Stockdale, Bumpass, Moffatt are also highly impressive. I don't believe Hampton will try to run but if the opportunity arrives then they will, but not continuous.

For Hampton to be in the basketballl game, they must get back on defense, rebound, and keep the turnovers to less than 10 for the entire game (easier said than done). They must also shoot lights out to have a chance.  It will take a herculean effort for Hampton to be in this basketball game.

WIth all that being said.. Hampton won't quit and will give you their best effort. They gave a great effort against Mitchell last year and even though we were defeated by 13, the game was respectable and the players were able to hold their heads high. Hampton has nothing to lose now and everything to gain which does make them dangerous. I know the players and coaches have the utmost respect for Union City and know what they are about to go up against. But like Uknoit2 said, they will embrace it and look at the game as an honor to get to play against one of the best.

Hampton should forfeit and save the travel expenses. These guys are way too good. I bet they have lightning bolts coming out of their behinds too....

Good Luck Dogs!

Geez, try some humble pie....

We owe Hampton for that 1960 State Championship banner hanging in your gym .... B)

The thing that makes that championship so special (other than that is our only one, plus 2 state runner ups in 81 and 83) is that Hampton had to win 5 games in the tournament that year, plus there were no classifications back then. Quite an accomplishment for a little ole school up in the mountains. That banner will always hang in our gym. We are very proud of it.

Also our former Coach White was the one of many who made all of those 35 footers lol. If there would have been a 3 point line back then, it would have been amazing.
