Looks like the issue is rearing its head in Alabama according to the article on coachT. I would like to hear more about giving the private schools a zone before giving them the boot. It appears that they have zones in Alabama. With the large multiplier in Tn, I would like to see what would happen.

How would that play with boarding schools like Baylor and McCallie who board students from all across the globe but live on campus?

Not sure. I guess it depends on if they are playing football or not. I just think the concept is interesting and is used by our neighbor state. It could cut down on the Private school kids that live a few counties away playing/recruited to play football. I think it is worth a look more so than a few others that were presented.

If that's the case these open enrollment schools should be forced to use their own zoned students as well and do away with out of county transfers unless a legitimate move is made.

Personally I think open enrollment is not near the issue as the private schools are. But I guess you could zone them as well. If someone does not live in a particular zone they could sit out a year. I don't know the answers but I think adding zones to those who have none is an idea to look at before a total split. IMO

Well not all public schools aren't exactly following guidelines either. I've seen public schools show up at middle schools and pull out of zone athletes out of class to discuss their future. Jeez

If that's true, the middle schools allowing it and the zoned schools not making a fuss are partially to blame.

I know it has happened as well. Makes it more difficult when the individual was a substitute teacher and funneling kids out of zone to a particular school in association with a coach in attempt to stack that team while training kids on the side, most for profit and some for free just to make a name for himself as they move to colleges. He has shown up at various camps to talk with kids and mingle with college coaches and is now scouting local talent in communication with some colleges. It has went on for years. The fellow even has a criminal record and can not be hired by a school system but, seems to show up.

Sounds like Knox County.
