TheTruthPrevails
Not awful results on offense for Sequatchie. Very rough numbers-13-65 rushing in varsity after 0 yards in first 3 attempts. 2-4 passing for about 40 yards. 1 pass dropped. Intercepted pass was out there for the reciever 30 yards downfield but the defender just made a better play for it. Rush defense held Marion to negative total. Pass defense allowed too much. The positive, some of the passes, the defender was there but didn't see the ball until it was too late. Some of the DBs havent played for a while or not anyin high school, but they will get good coaching and make the most of some pretty good athletic ability. Long TD pass was a fluke play when some of the defense stopped and the WR was able to stop, turn and catch the ball like a punt before going 40-50 more yards. I think the DE didnt know at that point if the QB was able to be tackled, whistle blew for QB in cross-the-field work at the start of the scrimmage/practice. Lots of work to do but against a pretty good team, not bad. Lol, you can probably attribute some of those passes caught to the mc qb instead of saying they were flukes. The long td was caught on about the thirty, he didn't run fifty yards after the catch. Across the field maybe after he outran everyone. Most of the forty yards passing you said you had was on the last pass of the game. Both offenses have a lot of work to do but the mc defense was good as was the seq run defense. I have good confidence that mc will be able to throw it around if needed. It is hard to run it when there is eight or nine in the box. Good luck injuns
PiRaTe._.MiKe
You Jasper folks sound a lot like us SP folks. You set your expectations so high it is almost impossible for any team to play as good if not better than you. It's all about match ups folks and if you been following valley football from little league all the way up you should know that Dunlap has some real good players moving into high school. Just fess up Jasper, you got too cocky and Dunlap brought you back down to earth. It may be a good thing to be humbled before season actually starts. TheTruthPrevails
For Pete's sake fellers, the Warriors is still the team to beat in the valley. The Indians obviously played tougher than you Jasper would have liked. Old Pirate thought it would be more Jasper than Dunlap too. Points taken here, the Warriors miss having the big hoss back there but overall should provide plenty of scoring. Give credit to the Indians for perhaps dislodging some of them Rose Colored Glasses. OP says the kinfolkes will have plenty to gloat about in 2015. Bad thing is the valley isn't what matters. The Indians played us well last year also until some key turnovers turned the tide. Seq has a good physical ball club. Bbq was great as well. I bet seq made a ton of money with their fundraiser. The concession stand ran out of stuff pretty early. P.s. Where is the pic at? Sequatchie
I want to let the Marion Co. folks know that we appreciate those that bought BBQ and let you know how polite your players were when they came in to eat after the scrimmage and they thanked us all for the meal.
ChristianWarrior76
Seq run defense looked pretty good. Will be hard to move it on them unless you can throw. They gave up several big pass plays. Seq didn't move it much except the last drive. 21 or 12, the rb for seq looked tough. Marion defense looked good. # 6 played pretty dirty but overall was a good practice. Marion isn't as good as most people think they will be. They have a lot of work to do. That was Marion's 3 string in
Indian
Maybe SC can get some things worked out and be competitive against SP.

Rival games are always interesting...probably helped MC a lot..SC was helped as well!! It's only a scrimmage and won't determine how each team finishes in October! Looks like the top tour could go any way. What is the top tour? Is that suppose to be top 4? If it is then I would agree with you. I believe your region could be the toughest 2A district in the state. You have a mixture of things. Some fundamentally sound teams, some really athletic teams, some really big teams. If one of the 4 happen to be fundamentally sound, athletic, and large then that might be your winner. I would still bank on Marion winning the region. TheAmbassador
That region is going to be something else. You will be battle tested for the playoffs. Edited August 8, 2015 by TheAmbassador
