He's unbelievable. It's like he knows exactly where the ball is going every single play. One of, if not the best LB I have ever seen.

Going with our work horse Taeler Dowdy with 1600 yards on 199 carries 2000 all purpose yards and 23 touchdowns. That comes with him setting the entire second half of his last 2 games

Junior Quarterback Cole Copeland Bradley Central. This season he has 2400 yds. passing for 24 touchdowns. He has also rushed for 800 yards and 16 touchdowns with a 68% completion rate. His high game was 31 of 41 and 464 yards on the road at Dobyns-Bennett with 5 touchdowns passing while also running for 122 yards and three scores as well. He has helped lead the Bears into playoffs with 7 victories. 

 

As a sophomore he accounted for 30 touchdowns. Pretty good credentials to be considered for the 6A Mr. Football award.

I would say Rodrick napper from Beech.. 1400 rushing yards.. 21 tds, leads his team in tackling with 70 tackles.. 13 TFL.. 3 sacks

More on these players, who compete in Class 5A, beginning with Farragut defensive end/ tight end Cole Strange (SR).

 

Oak Ridge head coach Joe Gaddis (in his 33^rd season as a head coach) had this to say about FHS defensive end Cole Strange in the Knoxville News-Sentinel:

“He’s special. He’s the best defender we’ve faced this year, and one of the best defenders I’ve coached against in my career.â€

 

Cole’s dominance at defensive end is all the more remarkable when one considers it’s his first season at the position. Last year, as a linebacker, Cole was Farragut’s leading tackler with 101 hits in 9 games.

 

 

 

Regarding Farragut RB Tanner Thomas (SR), in addition to having nearly 4,700 career rushing yards, Tanner has scored 58 career rushing touchdowns. In 29 of his 30 career starts Tanner has rushed for at least 100 yards. His current streak of 14 consecutive 100-yard games is tied for 6^th longest in state history. An earlier 15-game streak is the 5^th longest in Tennessee history. Tanner is currently committed to the Ivy League’s Columbia University.

 

 

I should also mention Farragut kicker Carter Phillipy (SR).

Carter is 7 of 10 on field goals this season with a long of 50. For his career he’s 22 of 29 with a pair of 50 yarders.

 

On extra points Carter is 114 of 115 for his career, his lone miss (blocked) coming during his sophomore season. Since then Carter has hit 90 consecutive extra points (44/44 this season), the 2^nd longest streak in state history according to the TSSAA State Records page.

 

This year 45 of Carter’s 49 kickoffs have resulted in touchbacks.

 

 

 

All 3 of these Farragut players excel in the classroom and are leaders in every sense for their team.

For 5A, I think Hendersonville has some great lineman. With the tough talent they have played this year, they have played solid at line receiving a lot of rushing yards. The starting right tackle Daly Cull plays both sides and is a threat to any DE or DT. He will always stay on his blocks and never stop moving. There starting center Sam Laws is a two year starter and has a lot of talent. Multiple games this year he has played top talent and has conquered them. He is only 6'1 and about 250 but he is a real threat. You can see through film from Hillsboro that he defeated top recruit Ben Hutch multiple times. That entire line deserves a lot of recognition for the amount of rushing yards they have gained.

I take that back. After seeing his competition, I think Blackmon wins. I forgot they count LBs for the lineman category
