Maryville's baby brother vs. CAK

That is the main problem. Your school has the ability to do so. Our school does not. One of our leaders brought a lawsuit that got the government involved about racial equalities inside of schools. The NAACP got aggitated and now we have a national mandated school zone. Now kids from the country get bussed to the county seat and kids from the city get bussed to the country. Nobody is happy!!!! Except the kids with money. They drive to a larger city down the road and have their pick of lots of nice private schools. Many of our great middle school athletes end up with a Academy or University in their high school name.

Sir, people have the right to send their kids to a private school if they wish. They still pay taxes that help support your public schools by the way.

For some, like me, it was not easy. It meant sacrifice as we are not wealthy. Sending my kids to a private school was a choice my family made, which prevented us from doing other things  we could have done. Best decision we've ever made, and it is paying off in spades already as my kids are in college and came in extremely well prepared.

By the way, a very well known figure from Alcoa even made the decision to send one of his children to CAK. Fun fact!

Frankly, I'm not going to waste my time giving a voluminous response. Those who've been on the T for an extended period of time know that 1. I've written a tremendous amount of material about this subject. and 2. It is very complicated.

The privates have a number of inherit DISadvantages along with a few advantages. Regardless, the TSSAA imposed a 1.8 multiplier. At least that was doing something.

Open zone is far more complicated because while it is used to the fullest advantage in Blount County (and at Riverdale, back in the day before they changed their policy), there are many "open zone" schools that basically have few if any out of zone impact players.

So the TSSAA chooses to ignore this complicated issue and address the "easy" one, private schools. So after this year, your beef with the privates will be addressed. And you'll be left with the same disparity with open zoning that you had before this latest change by the TSSAA.

You are so far behind in understanding the details of this subject, that rather than post, you need to read what has been discussed over the last 5-7 years. Not that I'm saying you don't have a right to post. Post away. But it is clear that you are at 101 level, and this subject is at Grad school level.

Best of luck to your program, both this year while you have both to deal with, and next year, after the TSSAA has solved "all the problems" by removing the private schools.

It will be interesting to see over the next 5 years what effect the privates being separated has on the TSSAA if they do what I would anticipate and simply form their own league, over time, tremendously reducing the budget the TSSAA has to work with.

As you look down your nose at me from your perch at your Academy you need to understand that I have been in this game for a long time. I know that what you are saying, even though you believe it whole heartedly, is a bunch of BULL. Woe is me, we are so crippled by attending a private school.....blah blah. GIVE ME A BREAK!!!!! you complain about a multiplier when you can have players from 100% of your population. What you need to realize, before you went on your typing frenzy, is I called both of you out. You both take advantage of the fact that you get to make your own rules, that is all. While you have all your reasons why your private school is mistreated and could go on about for 5-7 years. The kids from the public schools that are given a zone, that they have to live with, has just as many, or more.

YOU used the word "cheater" to describe Alcoa and CAK's programs. That is a serious accusation. It does not imply one who takes advantage of rules that may be in their favor, it simply calls someone a "cheater." (Your word). When you have something specifically to back up that word, "cheater" I'll be glad to carry on a discussion with you. My humble advice is not to throw around words like "cheater" when what you really mean is that you believe a particular group has an advantage that you don't have. Just my opinion. Your mileage may vary.

I tried. I really did. Best of luck to you.

The sad part of all of this is the players have a high respect for eachother! While they play as hard as they can on the field, I love the Contrasting styles of both clubs. Alcoa Always very Physical why Cak try's to get open with crisp route running. We all know Alcoa has the Athletes as well.... I hope Cak can keep it close and both teams come out with little injuries as the playoffs start the following week. We will see what Pope and Smith are made of for CAK while Alcoa has the Big twins and several more key contributors. Wish someone other than Packer was announcing the game.

These two teams DO have a lot of respect for one another, I agree! A lot of history with these two! Oh, and come to the game if you can! Then you don't have to worry about who is announcing it on TV! We need all the help we can get on the visitor's side! :popcorneater:

Love that mullet by the way!

Go CAK! I'm feeling a repeat of the 2011 and 2012 state quarterfinal games in this one. Alcoa goes home as losers yet again. Their fans post pictures to try to play off the pain but it doesn't work and as a result CoachT is much more quiet for at least one weekend.

There is no pain in watching this season's team. You flatlanders will find out soon enough.
