Oakland @ Maryville

I am very proud of all of them. 27, 44, 25 ,2 , 14 , 88 , 76 20 ,5 40 , 23, 70, forgive and correct if i left some out ( im old). They are a stingy bunch and very committed. They were put in some bad situations a couple times last night and they rose to the occaision. Thanks Solly , i was beginng to think maybe i was the only one.

As the old saying goes D wins championships and last night it was proven. Rebels D mvp so far in the post season imo. Opponents each wk are in awe of the offense and for what reason don't respect the D. Region 2 teams smash mouth run teams, and the Rebel D with a lot a togetherness, heart, and determination shut'em down!

Total yards- Oakland 301 Maryville 326. They did stop Oakland in the redzone, which is ultimately what won the game. Oakland can't expect to win fumbling 5 times. But overall it was a nearly evenly matched game, even though Oakland wasn't given a chance in H*** to win all week in this thread.

Maryville's Offense and Defense struggled at times but got the job done when needed. Like sx, I give Oakland a lot of credit for those struggles. I loved the way our boys stepped up to the challenge. Oakland started the game by forcing a 3 and out then ran it down out throats all the way down the field but we stiffened. We got punched in the mouth early and responded like champs. Love the fight in this years team.

I had to attend a funeral last night and missed the first half but was listening to the radio on the way to see the second half and just before half when Oakland had the ball Jeff smith was saying it would be nice if Maryville created a fumble right here just before half and score again and I'll be danged if it didn't happen.

tgo36 Okelund onlee lost one ov tham fumbulls becaws tha QB did not take a knee two end tha haif and hit costed 'em.....Okelund haz a dern goodur teem ......And had Mairvul knott stopped tham inn tha furst drive hit mighta come out differunt.....Butt 4 plays latur aftur Mairvul wuz upp 7 instead ov Okelund......14 point swang......

Matthew Cone was solid last night. He was 5 for 6 on field goals for 6 points! The field goal (3 field goals) that he made before the half increased momentum going into the locker room.

was referring to (all) region 2 sec teams. 7,10,13 num of points scored on this D. I believe this can be considered shut'em down. Sorry if you took it just about Oakland. They had a good plan to stay in the game. Just not seen to many teams one deminsonal be able to win against the Rebs like that.

Agreed. IMO, he's just trying to deflect the fact that this loss is on him, period. Killed whatever chance Oakland may have had at momentum by having a stupid moment and not taking a knee before halftime.

 

Oakland as a team hasn't valued the football all year long. They may have recovered 4 fumbles, but that will still kill a drive faster than anything. One if these days people will figure out that Maryville doesn't do anything revolutionary, they are just extremely good at mastering the details. Congrats to the Rebels
