food for thought.....

BA & Ensworth could stay in their respective classifications (D2/AA) that the enrollment numbers have slotted them for; play the teams in the surrounding Nashville area that will be in their region (once the TSSAA sets them) and still schedule those big in state D2/AAA programs and outta state teams for their non-region games

the D2/AAA are gonna be doin lots of traveling....BA & Ensworth can still play those powerhouse D2/AAA teams and still maintain their dominance as the premier teams in the state....and Booger can see those D2/AAA's still scheduling them to keep their travel cost down since they r goin to b doin alot of it

Booger just sayin  :popcorneater:

I completely agree, Booger.  It seems MBA would love to schedule BA/Ensworth for gate and travel reasons.  I could also see Baylor and McCallie wanting to play them - but not both of them every year.  As for JP2 and Father Ryan: BA and Ensworth may not care to play them anyway.  They don't come to mind when thinking of "powerhouse D2/AAA teams."  With more local region games, BA and Ensworth could look to travel more for non-region games and still not travel as much overall.

When BA can only put together a 9-game schedule, 3 games of which are with out-of-state opponents, the TSSAA has pretty much forced their hand.  Just remember--the public schools have to be appeased and coddled under every scenario, so there is zero possibility that the TSSAA would intervene and facilitate regular-season scheduling between publics and privates so that this wouldn't be an issue...that's the obvious solution that will never happen, because it's too important to the publics to not answer the phone when the privates call to schedule a game, even when no championships are at stake.

Agree with the above--BA and Ensworth will still have the regular season games with MBA, and maybe Father Ryan also.  So what's the benefit of playing up?  Regular games with Baylor and McCallie?  The chance to play MUS and CBHS in the play-offs?

I do hope they both stay where their #'s put them, just to shine a light on how absurd the TSSAA and their quest to appease public schools has become.

Maybe it will work out like that, but I think there is a chance that Ensworth plays up.  If that happens, what BA is banking on is that the other big privates will play them.  If they don't, what's the point of staying in AA.  Put it this way, if they play up and Ensworth does as well, they will have 4 local district games (MBA, PJPII, Ensworth, Father Ryan) and maybe another one or two in Chattanooga or Memphis.  They will then need to find 3 or 4 additional games....very difficult.  If they play in AA, they will probably have 5 local district games (Lipscomb, CPA, Goodpasture, BGA, FRA) and MAYBE Ensworth and MBA will play them. They will still need 2-3 additional.....very hard to do, and what if MBA doesn't play them?

So to me, if BA stays in AA, they would benefit by maybe one or two closer games and sacrificing playing the best for the title.  In most years, they will be able to name the score in all the games played in AA, including CPA, all through the championship......just doesn't seem like it fits their mission of winning championships at the highest level.

We'll know soon enough though.....

If both Ensworth & Brentwood Academy make the decision to play in AA they would then have 6 mandatory region games.  That would leave them to find 4 additional games to complete a 10 game schedule.  It would be difficult for me to believe that MBA would refuse to play BA or Ensworth.  MBA would also have a difficult time having a full 10 game schedule and playing BA & Ensworth would give them 2 local games.

What needs to happen is all the private schools need to leave the TSSAA and form their own association for both private schools and public schools that want the best competition available.

Nobody knows the in's and out's of an issue like someone who has been on both sides of it!!!

Considering that the private school supporters have always used that tired old "quit whining and play" line...I'm loving this! There's no doubt that there's a clear dividing line between the privates and publics...to sit back and watch the private schools try and "materialize" a dividing line between themselves and those who rightfully should be in their division, BUT they don't want to play is satisfying to no end...how's that shoe fit now that it's on the other foot?

The fact that there will now be 3 divisions in D2 with the low total number of teams only proves the TSSAA is trying to appease small private schools too. Like Trader said, it is funny to watch schools like Lipscomb try to work the system to their advantage and then get the rug pulled out by BA. That would be classic.

How would that be classic?? Are you looking forward to the beat down BA will put on Goodpasture for the next 4 years?

So let's recap what we know so far with toromorrow being the deadline

Going D2 - Concord Christian, CAK, Boyd Buchanan, Silverdale, Chattanooga Christian, Grace Baptist (Chatt), Goodpasture, CPA, Nashville Christian, MTCS, Lipscomb, and Jackson Christian

Staying D1 - Columbia Academy, Clarksville Academy, Trinity Christian, Grace Christian (Franklin)

Undecided - Knoxville Catholic, Grace Christian (Knox), Notre Dame

Looks like the East is staying quiet until decision day
