Congrats to everyone nominated. It is a shame that Dresser Winn will not win this. I am in no way a Dresden fan or supporter, but the kid is on another level than other high school kids. I know it happens, especially in the West, but this award has no credibility.

I just don't understand their inconsistency. Warbritton went off that year, and the only argument they could've had is that he didn't have as many yards per attempt as the other kid (that's just my guess). He did have gigantic holes every play, but surely that wasn't a part of the voting. I personally think Diebold and the Pruett kid were overlooked, just from what I saw that year. Now this Dresden kid who won it last year has more passing TDs than incompletions, like what? I understand he had limited playing time, but c'mon. He had a lot fewer attempts than everyone last year, but surpassed the next closest guy by 700 yards, at least that's what the papers said. This year (according to the stat charts), pretty much everyone touched the ball twice as much as he did with rushing and passing, so they knew the circumstances and what they were doing. It's a shame.

Come to think of it, did Terrence Bell or Boo Weathers from Huntingdon ever win the award? I can't remember. I remember watching them during the 2001-2003 run. They were impressive.

    • Dyersburg may win back to back to back championships. They are going to be hands down the best 3A team. Plus their District/region/sectionals are not very good. They basically just have to make it to region out of a 5 team district that has a few decent teams. South Gibson will be okay but they graduate their best player and there is nobody in the region 7 or region 8 who is going to compete with them.
    • I remember very well watching things change in the late 80's and yes it's all schools. Most people that are in charge today have any idea because they were raised and taught under this social experiment so they don't have a clue. Anyone that does see the truth for what it is usually try and hide it by blending in so that the School Gestapo doesn't round them up and take them to the Fuhrer ( kindly putting it ). Yes it is all schools not just Maryville. This train ride is not headed in a good direction and if the public had seen a movie of what's happening now back in 1980 everyone would have been headed home afterwards to change underware.
    • Hoping to make the playoffs.
    • You are so correct!  It’s really 99.9% of academia want to change to way that education is not only taught but the way it is viewed.  The pendulum has definitely swung as far to the left as possible and eventually will swing to the right much too far.  I have always  said that politics and one’s personal religious views need to stay out of education,  but for the last 40 years education has been running full throttle to what we have today.  If the social experiment that we are currently experiencing continues it is only a matter of time before the public school system in the USA completely collapses and all kids attend private schools or even worse don’t go to school.
    • He was a bruise but Aaron Dykes is HVA’s best RB ever.
