Something needs to be considered. He was indeed under contract because he had not been in that district long enough to gain tenure. For him to take the new job and start immediately, Dresden would have to agree to release him from his current contract. If they don't agree to release him he can risk having his teaching license suspended or revoked. Doubt he would risk that. Since it is obvious Dresden released him and has no hard feelings can't understand why anyone else would either. I was in the same situation last year with my teaching job and did the same thing.

Not a kid for sure.  I understand the profession very well.  He is not a college coach who doesn't teach classes.  He is a high school coach who is a teacher first.  He will be leaving the administration searching for someone to teach his classes the rest of the year.  Most schools don't have back up teachers on hand and he did sign a year contract not an eight month contract.  I don't have a problem with him leaving to go coach somewhere else.  I believe most people in Dresden knew he wasn't going to stay after this year. Yes I know we won a state championship but he was loaded with talent whether anyone wants to admit it or not.

Dresden was indeed loaded with talent, and I can't say that the Lions wouldn't have won that championship with someone else any more than you could argue that they would have...the fact remains that Dresden and Rang won it together, and that he's moving on. If I were in your position I would hate to see him go, but if I were in his I'd do the same thing, and I'd expect that you would also.

He won a state championship and Dresden won a state championship. It's a win-win situation. Does it hurt to see him leave? Yes. But if Dresden people knew he is going to leave Dresden in the summer or after the 2017 season, then why would March 21st, 2017 be a big deal? There's about 6 weeks left in the school year, about more than half the class probably know by now whether they'll be pass the class that he teaches (if he teaches a legit class like Math or English).

Gatlinburg-Pittman is probably a top 5-10 job in the state, simply because it is in Gatlinburg. Don't blame him and Dresden people should congratulate them.
