After reading many of the comments I found my two cents to give. First and foremost I have a ton of respect for Coach Shad. I watched what he endured here in the Boro and alot of it was not warranted. He is a good man and really is a good coach from everything I saw on and off the field. That being said, think of this as taking your son or daughter to the Dr's office . You want to make sure that wherever you take them it provides them with what you feel is the best prognosis for them. As a parent that is how we can rest at night. Knowing that we did our best to provide for our children and we gave them the best opportunity to succeed.  Now it doesn't always make our decision a fact, but there is a peace in knowing we gave our best effort. We lost a couple players here at Blackman this year that transfered to schools in the area and it hurts, but I recognize it is a parents effort to do the best by their children and give them an opportunity the may not have otherwise in their opinion.

FYI y'all - Kreager is in Knoxville today and he's working with a new prep editor here. I guarantee this lady would love nothing more than a juicy expose off the bat. Y'all oughta go up and take her the evidence.

We've not heard much about "evidence" since the boy's mom chimed in...

Regardless of who comes and goes there is no excuse for WB not to win. As large as the school is Maryville cannot pool all of the talent. I have watched kids come in go at WB and know for a fact that they have no excuse not to do better than what they do. A combination of poor coaching choices for many years has unfortunately allowed them to develop the reputation they have in Football. I will say however I think their current coach can turn them around if they can hold on to him long enough.

There was a plan in place before the last coaching hire and if the admin would have stuck to that plan instead of doing what they did, things would be much different down there right now, IMO....but that is the past.  I don't think WB will have a problem holding on to the current coach.

    • Never said I thought it was a smart decision. I'm scratching my head at it too.
    • If he wanted to play QB he should have either went to Heritage or William Blount and had a real good chance there. In stead he'll be exactly what he was going to be at Maryville. They already know who their QB is going to be in 2025 and it ain't going to be him.
    • Easier said than done. The man who ran for 250+ yards and 3TDs is gonna be back….and a lot bigger.
    • plus it removes the pressure around winning.
    • You are correct.   The teacher's pay scale is virtually the same in Knox County, now, as it is at Oak Ridge.   The coaching supplements are still higher at Oak Ridge, from what I was told, but not a huge difference.   Plus, Rusty is going from a position coach to an OC position, which is what he was at South Doyle and where his comfort zone is.  And from a special education teaching slot to a PE teaching slot.  There is a lot of positivity in that move without even considering the coaching aspect.   Anybody who sees something negative here is just looking for negativity to begin with.  But some live in that world.   Really good hire for Brent.  He now has two experienced and quality coordinators and can concentrate on being a head football coach.
