I've got a question for anyone that's seen Region 6 play. I will clarify that I don't know anything about Region 6 other than their scores, which doesn't always tell you everything. I definitely believe Waverly is on a level all their now in Region 6. But, I just don't see all the hype over Riverside or Hickman Co.  The reasons are listed below...

Hickman Co. only beat Summertown 14-13. Summertown has been blown out by Lewis Co, CA, & Forrest. Summertown hasn't even scored a TD against those three (28-0, 49-0, & 43-0).

Hickman Co. got beat 55-7 by Lewis Co in the only head-2-head matchup.

Hickman Co. got blown out by Franklin Road Academy 48-7. CA beat Franklin Road Academy 56-21 just two weeks prior.

Riverside only beat Hickman Co. 32-28.

Riverside only beat Obion County 35-34, but Lewis County beat Obion County 49-24.

Again, I'm seriously asking and not trying to start anything other than pointing out the wins/loses that seem to favor Region 5 over Region 6 (EXCEPT with Waverly).

I haven't heard any "hype" involving Hickman Co. As for Riverside, they're a tough and talented team. Lexington barely escaped in OT, and they've given a good account in all their other games except Hickman Co. I'm personally not looking for a chance to glorify the Panthers, just giving my thoughts and opinions when they are relevant. It happens that myself and a few others think that Riverside has a good chance to advance through region 5 (not necessarily predicting it, but they have the team to get it done), so if you want to call a few opinions "hype", there's the reason...more than one person has the same opinion concerning the outcome of two games between two regions.

I'm a huge fan of Riverside.  You can't always compare scores when two different teams have played the same team earlier in the season. Things change throughout the season: injuries, improvements, regressions, players move, players are removed from teams, etc. So, although this can be an indicator, you can't always count on it..... 4A Lexington beat the Panthers on a long run near the very end of the game (Lex might still win their region). Riverside won the first half at Waverly but the Tigers beat the Panthers from midway in the 3rd quarter on. (Wavo won their region) If not for these two events, Riverside would be undefeated at this late point in the season........ Riverside has gone to the first or second round each of the past 5 years. This is, by far, the best Riverside team we have had on the field during this stretch. Going in, I feel we can compete with any team from Region 5 or 6. I'm not saying we are going to beat anybody or that Region 6 is stronger than 5. I'm only saying that as a fan of high school football in general for many years, Riverside is loaded for bear and will make some noise in the playoffs where ever they go or who ever they play against. No, they are not ranked and they hardly ever get mentioned on Jackson's 5th Quarter, and are never covered by any Nashville media, but they will come to play.

Thanks... I wasn't trying to set anyone out with my post. The hype wasn't meant for the ones I quoted either.  I was really wanting the insight because I have not seen them and could only have a prediction based on the scores.

I have tried to do that with the scores but it just can't really be done. A lot of people make that same mistake. Look at region 7 for example TCA beat Adamsville and McKenzie but lost to Union city and Peabody. Union city got smashed by Adamsville and squeeze one out on McKenzie in the LAST minutes of the game. Peabody lost to McKenzie but smashed TCA which I picked TCA to win that one (long story) and now they have to beat the Ville this Friday to make in the playoffs so you can't go by the scores of the games. when did u see adamsville cos they look to be much improved since losing to TCA

I didn't say they wasn't a good team as a matter of fact I think they are the ones that will make it to the semi since TCA is down. UC is the 3rd best team in R7. I have seen them all my friend

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
