Greeneville @ DB

Highlights from the Greeneville vs DB games.  What makes Greeneville so tough is they can Wr screen you to death and then make big plays over the top.  When your Starting trips set of Wr. consists of 3 division one commits and all being big body guys (6'3 220, 6'4 215, and 6'2 200) its tough for a high school team to get off all those blockers (And if you can't block you will not be in the game at WR under Ballard)

The thing that stands out to me about that clip was how well Greenville had scouted DB and how well the players were on assignment. That's a very well coached team. It was like Greenville knew exactly what play DB was going to run even before they broke huddle. And you can say the exact opposite about DB. Not a clue. The only trouble Ballard had on pass plays was trying to figure out which wide open receiver to throw to. It was like going to the dessert bar at Golden Corral and only being able to chose one dessert. I can't do that.

Yep,it put me In mind of how every player on Maryville's offense is always after someone even if it's not on their side of the field .Any Devil fan that's not happy today should probably hold that thought.

Good Win tonight for the Greene Devils Junior Varsity 14 - 6 over Dobbins Bennett. It was a good football game

I'll take any win but you never know in JV games what the level of competition is.Some coaches play it straight up for the underclassman that need the work and some coaches go for the win at all cost.As a 10th grader,I started linebacker on Friday but had to play on the o-line in our jv games at Greeneville.I noticed a Morristown west player during the jv game that was playing his Friday night position .I talked our coach into letting me go in at linebacker.Man,I could see everything like it was in slow motion.I lived in the Morristown west backfield the rest of that day.Going the other direction,DB's 9th grade 4 years ago played mostly jv teams except SH.Their only loss was to Greeneville's jv that year.So you just never know who is on the jv field.

Greeneville played mostly freshman and sophomores in the JV game with some Juniors that are not getting playing Time on varsity. Looking at DB I believe they played all young kid's as well. It was a good hard hitting football game greeneville really has some speed and athleticism in that freshman class DB looked pretty good up front

That sounds good for the future of the Devils.Speed is something that you can gain more of but it's a lot better to start fast right out of the gate.A year or two in our training program and maybe the Devils reload for another championship In coming years ...

    • Winfree's senior year was the season she needed to secure more college interest. That opportunity was taken away from her. A lot of false assumptions can be made about what happened and what the options are. Unfortunately, the former coach and administration did not allow Winfree to have due process. A lawsuit was filed for a reason, and it will run its course by people who conduct discovery and take depositions. Unless the parties settle out of court, a lot of the pertinent issues will come to the public surface. I wrote about many of the issues here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/11/17/grounds-for-investigation-and-suspension/ I interviewed Winfree after she was dismissed from the team and wrote about it here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/12/01/a-new-interview-with-sable-winfree/ Winfree had been on teams in Warren County since the fourth grade and never been dismissed from a team. The real questions are why was Winfree dismissed from the team, and why the administration backed a coach whom they did not rehire.
    • What is the hold up here? I have not heard anything in weeks. Are they waiting for the right person or is something else going on?
    • Per usual, we'll be hard to beat in the regular season, I'm sure. It's the post season that I'm more worried about, specifically the coaches. Maybe they'll be able to make some adjustments that will keep the momentum in our favor. How's Grays recovery coming along?
    • Something don’t add up here a college coach is not going to turn away a good player they need just because they didn’t get along with their high school coach
    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
