Thanks, Maryville/Oakland part 2 for the Championship! Even in the loss this game made Alcoa better. Maryville will get better and bust Oakland in the mouth! I'm an Alcoa guy, but have nothing but respect for Maryville 364 days a year. They will be fine here on out I'm sure.

Red Rebels
Not that it matters, but I wonder what the 6A poll will look like. Da Haven dropped a close one to a good Lausanne team. Oakland had a bye. Edited September 8, 2018 by Red Rebels
Springbrookrat
First of all, what a great high school football game. A lot of mistakes on both sides but it was also a very physical game. Two teams that left it all on the field tonight. Alcoa won the battle up front and our quarterback made some very nice throws. The play of the game was when we stopped Maryville with 53 seconds left in the half on their own 44, I believe. Then we get six 38 seconds later. Maryville would have only been down 6 if they would have punted. Costly... I still can’t figure out why you go for it on your on side at that stage in the game. Another thing is the pass rush for Maryville was none existent tonight. If they don’t fix that it could be costly down the road. Maryville will rebound from this and become a better team. They have great support and great kids that know how to win. Everybody in that stadium knew it was never over until the last few plays. After that big win, Alcoa should go to the states top spot. How many Rutherford County teams get slayed at the black hole? Let’s just say a few and one just a few weeks ago. Congrats to the Alcoa kids that I have watched grow up the last 8-9 years. It’s been a treat and the ride ain’t over yet. Edited September 8, 2018 by Springbrookrat
