I have heard in the past that this was not allowed in the State. No Principal could be the HC of any sports team. I'm not sure how SC got around the rule back then but I had always heard that.

Croz are you the lone poster for the Tigers this year or did the Jackets scare them off this week? hehe

What are Givens Numbers so far for the year? I know he set the school record for Career Rushing Yards already.

I've pretty much been the lone poster for a couple of years. Some have come and gone. MO$$$, if you remember him from a few years back, passed away. It's like a lot of other things. When we're good, we have a few posters. In the last few years, support for the program has went down quite a bit.

As for Givens, he was 12 for 38 against Watertown, 30 for 207 at Smith, and 7 for 116 at RBS. These are off the top of my head, so these numbers are approximate.

Look I’m a Creasy former player and I wish he had never left and volstate has an ax to grind. He’s a great great coach. But I’m telling you, I have been around the program a lot this year, and this offense is doing about as well as it can with the quarterback that’s having to fill in till the starter is back. It’s lot harder calling plays when you can’t throw the ball and qb is not much of a runner. I can tell you this, Creasy would not come back here period. The same folks that are on here raising complaints is the same ones that use to do it way back when. Heck they did same thing with Coach Clint. TC lost two games, one by a point and one to lebanon by 4. I personally didn’t think TC would be able to make it without the qb playing. It’s been kinda amazing they still had chances to win all three games playing without a qb. And I do think Creasy makes it to Cookeville this year. He’s got more talent than everyone in 6a. And don’t be surprised to here I told you so about the Jackets when they get their qb back. People don’t understand that this kid could have probably been a finalist for Mr. Football if he hadn’t made a mistake. But lets hope for no injuries going forward!

Oh I know if the starter QB was playing TC would have their starting CB back and kick and punt returner and kicker back he is worth at least 7 points a game no argument there also IMO TC would have 3 wins right now

Is Mr. Givens a senior and if so what does Gordonsville have coming up in the next few years

He is a Sr.

Our whole O-line is juniors, while all our skill players on offense are seniors.

There are some freshmen and sophomores that are very talented, but those classes are fairly small, and the 8th grade class is very good.

I think support for all HS programs in general has decreased. I think some of the head injury stuff has caused some people to just stop supporting football and also there are alot more things to do. Student Sections at some games dont exist and if they do, you may not even know they were there. for sure its not like it used to be.

For those to numbers for Mr. Givens to be "Off the Top of My Head", thats pretty good. If Watertown was able to bottle him up that well, then TC may give him some issues. The Rush D has been pretty dang good in 2018 and if you take away a couple of home run hits that they have given up, the numbers may be less than 150 yds total through 3 games.

JacketsNationFan1 may be able to go back to his notes and figure that one out. I know they stopped Lebanon until they hit a 70 yarder late in the game.

Watertown put up the most rushing yards against the jackets to this point with 24 carries for 140 yards, Lebanon I believe was in the 125 range with 72 coming on Crites TD run, and friendship had 31 carries for 79 yards, everyone knows what are weakness is and although we lost I thought other than 1 busted coverage, we played pretty good against a potent passing attack of Watertown

Everyone we play will focus on Givens, We MUST be able to spread the ball around. And, I think we need to be able to pass the ball, but we've not really try to establish a passing game yet.

Watertown didn't have bad rushing numbers against TC. I was impressed by them limiting FC. I'm not sure about Lebanon. They only averaged less than 1.5 ypc against Mt. Juliet. I know that's a different level of competition, but a team could run a QB sneak every play and average more than that.

As far as the support, I do like what our administration is doing to get the students at the game. They can pay 15 dollars and get in to all the jr. high and high school home games in football, volleyball, and basketball until after Christmas break.

I like that idea. I've thought for a few years that something like this would be good. Have them pay a discounted price, get a T-Shirt of some sort, and possible put the ones that show up in a give away of some sort (gas card, food gift card, etc.). Sad that you have to create incentives for people to show up but they have proven that they wont just come on their own. Anyways......

Weather looks like it will be a great night to catch a ballgame tomorrow night. Croz, dont let Clemons or Shaw leave the sprinklers on tonight.

After the jr. high ballgame tonight, I'm sure the field will need watering.

    • Congratulations to the Warrior baseball team winning the Region Championship.  Last night the football team beat Franklin Co 33-0 in their spring scrimmage. Warriors looked very good. Missing a few players who were playing baseball but still absolutely dominated. A lot of young ones got in halfway through the 3rd when the score reached 33-0. QB Tilton Pickett looked very sharp.  Sam Pickett is on another level this season. Seems to have put on 15 to 20 lbs in the off season and added a step as well. Transfer from last year Williamson caught numerous balls and is very elusive. Lots of athletes on this team. Defense was smothering and will only get better. The head coach from Sewanee was in attendance and offered 2 kids after the game. Could be a special year.
