Hey wow let's stay on task. Don't get those people south of the river stirred up. They get real defensive anytime you start talking about anything that might be questionable and then you get the speech about coaching, community, culture, tradition, beat downs of teams, garbage service, cookies, GQ, DH, RW, RR, S&B,BS, PV, GR, RR, 32, (l hope l did not leave anyone out, but if l did l am sure we will hear about them). and all of the other Maryville Mafia. Pretty soon it will be like a Hitchcock movie or a plague and they will all be swarming on here telling us the some old stuff we hear over and over. I just wish we Knox Countians could have our own disfunction with out everybody else chiming in and bringing their stuff to our show. But wishful thinking will not produce results. I am glad the tin heads did not jump on to but there still is time if you want to put up some videos or give an Alcoa history lesson. Thank you Ridgers for letting us south of you all to have time to get at each other without any northern aggression. Powell is not till next week. Stars, did not mean to leave momma out but why bring in innocent by standers.                                               By the way, is there any of that funny money still floating around over there south of the river. I am sure glad you all handled that in house. Any of you techy people got an article you can pull up on that little hick up.

Obviously you can’t remember  that far back. I guess you graduated in 1950. We lost the first four games during the counterfeit scandal. But somehow managed t bring a gold ball home

I remember. You all handled it in house. GQ saved his self and there were no charges filled or court cases. Any where else there would have been a federal investigation. Culture over Counterfeiting. But there is a Powell connection here. I will see if you all can figure it out.

I am not surprised by lowe.We dealt with the worst recruiting ever when I was at norwood.LL at a.c. and romeo gaddis at o.r.LL is up to his old tactics at union county.Romeo is losing ground in his recruiting battles to the west knox privates.Cory booker from harriman was one of the old roane county o.r. recruits which now choose other places.Luckily i was coached by honest ron brown.

Totally agree, hammer.

Jimmies and Joes will always be a part of the equation, but Maryville and Alcoa are well-established programs. At this point, winning just begets more winning.

osunut2, very well stated!      winning just begets more winning.....    and the corollary to that is:  whining just begets more whining.   There are certain.... ahem.... unnamed schools....  who always whine come playoff time..

I don't scratch my head unless it itches and I don't dance unless I hear some music. I will not be intimidated. That's just the way it is.

Thanks for sharing. L.L. was the Master. Even at Halls. Has anyone ever figured out why the scoreboard at Halls is behind the visitors sideline. I am sure L.L. used that to his advantage also. Just like all of those kids he got out of LC and Norris.

Don't really have a team. Just wish everyone did what they are supposed to do. Wish everyone told the truth, and went to school where they are supposed to go to when it comes to eligibility. Wish that coaches, AD's, and administrators checked up on their players and where there players lived so that there would be no eligibility questions. Now if this is all a dud and everybody lives where there supposed to and the coaches, AD's and administration has made sure of that, this will all be ok. But if not who gets punished. The player mostly and his teammates. The coach will just go on doing what he does. So will AD and administration. Just think if a coach, AD, or other had checked up on an address a long time ago this would be a non subject.

I hope for the young men at Powell that it all turns out ok. That would really suck to have to vacate wins.

From Jesse Smithey's article at 5Star Preps

“Powell High School can confirm that the TSSAA is disciplining the football program based upon the eligibility of a football player. Powell High School incorrectly entered student information into the TSSAA eligibility portal. The following is the official statement from Powell High School Athletic Director, Chad Smith.

These circumstances are a result of incorrect documentation. There has never been any effort or intention whatsoever to misrepresent the athletic interests of Powell High School. We will comply with all of the instructions set forth by the TSSAA regarding this situation.

The following is the official statement from Powell High School Principal, Dr. Chad Smith.

Powell High School prides itself on being a school that is student-centered and a school that exhibits integrity both on and off the field and it will continue to be that way. We understand that it is a new day in Knox County athletics, and we look forward to watching all of our student-athletes compete in future athletic contests.”

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
