From 1969 through 1972, it was only 4 making the playoffs in three classes.  From 1973 through 1976 it was 8.  Then it was 16 for about 10 years and then 32 through 1992.  After that they went to 5 classes.   Walland was 6 - 3 in the playoffs during 73 to 76 including a state title.  Walland no longer had a high school after that and Alcoa showed up on the scene as a perennial power reeling off Class A titles in 77, 78 and 79.

The 79 title was won a phantom clip call against Lake County. Lol. I believe that game was played at Maryville. Alcoa beat my Falcons 13 to 9 that night. I believe Maryville lost to Humboldt that same night.

Characteristics of a real fan! Haha I understand though, sometimes it hard to admit a team was just better than yours. Hurts, but it's part of life in every aspect not just sports.

Like you, I don't remember 7:30 start times at home.

I guess us fans will have to start getting acclimated to the heat.  We can all begin meeting at the Beene mid July.  Every day from 2pm- 6pm.  No water breaks.
