Westview, Covington, and Dyersburg would be the top 3 in West I would say. Personally, I think this may be one of Westview’s best chances to win the gold.

After watching Westview today, I would agree. The new PG looks more like a freshman in college than a freshman in HS. Unbelievable talent as a freshman.

Yes, the Westview freshman PG is special. West TN fans are in for a treat the next 4 years. College-level scorer RIGHT now, and some of the best vision you'll see. She will take lumps early, but I think she is no doubt at worst a high mid-major D1 player.

I'm not sure if I am allowed to post this and provide attribution for this, but feel I should. If Coach T finds a conflict, I apologize. This is from Tim Lownsdale's site.

Cheatam County lose a bunch? I have seen both Macon County and Westview and both are really good. Seen Covington and Dyersburg and they are good teams as well.

Macon, Upperman and Meigs are the 3 best teams in the east, followed by probably Grainger. Put Meigs at 5 and move the rest down.

Morristown and Oak Ridge, in the past, have been strong in this tourney. They've both lost at least one key player.  Jefferson County can be tough. All three are AAA. This could leave some room for Upperman and Meigs in AA, but I'm not counting out AA a young South Greene either, as they will have "home court" advantage and will have had more experience at that point. Have no idea about the out-of-staters. This is always a good tournament and the organizers were wise to increase the number of teams and to make sure more "local" teams got an invitation.

Meigs beat Jefferson County and Rockcastle a few weeks ago by 20. Meigs plays Oak Ridge first game of the season. That should be a really good game, Oak Ridge won last year by about 10, but Oak Ridge lost their best player and Meigs has everyone back.

    • The Girls Basketball team I am a part of played for a gold ball this season. One of the biggest differences in the sports is that there is no field prep/maintenance in basketball.   Our baseball is successful and play 30 games in the regular season as well. All of the teams dedicate A LOT of time in preparing for their next opponent.
    • “facts” or better yet ‘opinions’ had been up for weeks/months. that’s not why the thread was deleted. get over yourself.
    • Im pretty excited about the new rules that NFHS voted to adopt. Does anyone know if this will take place in Tennessee starting this year? I think I heard/read somewhere that the TSSAA bi-laws say the have to mirror what the NFHS does, and when the NFHS offered the current weight classes as options, TSSAA didn’t adopt them until NFHS made them official. Did NFHS make these changes official starting next season or will it be similar to the weight classes where TSSAA doesn’t change what they are doing until it is  an officially official part of the NFHS rule book? It’ll be interesting to see if it is rolled out for the new TSSAA Middle School season and I saw a post where the youth wrestling in TN was going to vote on adopting it as well.  I’ll pray for all the youth coaches that will have to shoulder the confusion from all those crazy #### parents who already think they know the rules more than everyone else  . Imagine the first time their kid is taken down and a 3 goes up on the scoreboard or their kid gets pinned with only one point of contact in the cylinder. Their heads might explode. i kid, I kid. Sort of. I’m surprised ride time was brought down with all the other changes. I know some argue that it promotes stalling on top, but its been an official scoring method in college forever, so I figure it must be doing something right. Do any of you think that’ll ever be implemented?
    • Crazy how the thread just gets deleted when facts come out.
    • I understand I guess it depends on the school you are with and the time you want to put in.  It’s evident of the schools that don’t put in as much times.  I would say basketball players put in as much time as any sport in our school system and this is coming from a football town.  Bball is a longer season than other sports.
