I know how is Martin getting all this QB talent???

In days gone by it was Linemen: Chad Clifton, Will Ofenheusle, Justin Harrell all played at UT and went on to the NFL. Guess its quarterbacks now. Sad that Damron and Simpson were so close together in their matriculation. Would have liked to see what he could have done at WV.

One reason they are getting QB talent is that parents in Martin are starting their kids late or holding them back so they are a year older when they get in Jr and high school. It isn’t a secret.

He is a junior. Several very talented kids in the junior class. Next year should be even better.

BPM, Milan's QB is a senior.  In my opinion, he should have been playing qb the last 2 seasons,  but instead was a WR.

My bad. I thought he was a junior. I agree with you on the statement of where he should have been playing. He looked good in scrimmages during the fall last year when the starting qb was out with an injury. But the qb was back when the season season started and he never got the chance. I think he will make the offense much more dynamic this year with his ability to run as well as throw.

Huntingdon Middle blew out Milan Middle last night. 48-18. I couldn’t understand why MMS coaches didn’t have their team more prepared. HMS took out starters in the beginning of the 2nd half and MMS left theirs in the whole game. MMS has real athletes all over the field but were not utilized correctly. I wonder if that’s why S Gibson and Gibson co are getting transfers?

Not defending the MMS staff but my understanding is the new coach has only been there for 3 weeks. Its going to be really hard to get a team ready to play in 3 weeks. Also, the mustangs are really good.

That makes sense. It was truly a honest question. It was no offense to the players. They played hard. It was little things like breaking the huddle with 12 after change of possessions.

I have no knowledge of this either way so I can't speak on it. Even so. Holding an average kid back wont make him a top 100 recruit for his class the next year

    • Never said I thought it was a smart decision. I'm scratching my head at it too.
    • If he wanted to play QB he should have either went to Heritage or William Blount and had a real good chance there. In stead he'll be exactly what he was going to be at Maryville. They already know who their QB is going to be in 2025 and it ain't going to be him.
    • Easier said than done. The man who ran for 250+ yards and 3TDs is gonna be back….and a lot bigger.
    • plus it removes the pressure around winning.
    • You are correct.   The teacher's pay scale is virtually the same in Knox County, now, as it is at Oak Ridge.   The coaching supplements are still higher at Oak Ridge, from what I was told, but not a huge difference.   Plus, Rusty is going from a position coach to an OC position, which is what he was at South Doyle and where his comfort zone is.  And from a special education teaching slot to a PE teaching slot.  There is a lot of positivity in that move without even considering the coaching aspect.   Anybody who sees something negative here is just looking for negativity to begin with.  But some live in that world.   Really good hire for Brent.  He now has two experienced and quality coordinators and can concentrate on being a head football coach.
