How many times have you vote for a kid not in your area of the state?

Just a question and I am very sincere when I ask this. What do you really know about a kid from the west? Example Tanner Snyder or Larry Tubbs from Lake County or the Ensley kid from Huntingdon. Ya'll do an excellent job of coving middle Tn and east Tn but not so much from the west. I listen to y'all's show and enjoy it very much but the coverage from the west is way behind that of middle and east Tn. Mr. Football is more than numbers. I did get a chuckle out of you guys when yall said the Lake County/Dresden game was a pick em. Have you guys ever reached out to coach Puckett from Lake County or many other coaches from the west excluding Swenson and the Covington coach? I am not putting you guys down. Like I said I enjoy the show but the west has many good players and coaches also.

While he doesn't see everyone in the state, (no one does) Mike does at least do his homework.  He pays attention to the stats but I can guarantee he doesn't use that as his only basis for making his picks. He's not going to pick the local kid or the guy with the best stats without putting a serious look into it.

I'm guessing that he's just trying to find our a little about the kids that deserve a shot. Then he can narrow it down by researching on his own.  That's more than most of the voters will do.

Well, Mr. Horse, I probably watch a bigger variety of football than most folks who make these votes.   Apparently you aren't familiar with us or you'd know that.   Not many people are able to travel from Memphis to Knoxville to watch a potential Mr. Football candidate (or vice versa) so I was trying to provide folks with a way to at least get some information about their candidate out there.   Any name that shows up here, if I don't know them, I will be digging for video on them.

I'm sorry my method of gathering information didn't meet your approval.

Old Pirate has questions, Jest how many players do voters actually watch and how many times? How many voters are involved?  Some get a HEEP more looks and outside looking in is an obvious popularity contest .

Your exactly right, my friend.  I have no loyalty toward any program.  My kids are all grown and been out of school for years.   I only want to provide the TSSAA with what I feel are the 3 most deserving candidates in the State.   I don't care if that kid is at David Crockett or Covington.   Makes no difference to me where they play.   Just get me some raw data and I'll seek out any video I can find on them.

I'm not sure about that, Old Pirate,  Anyone listed as a "media outlet" with the TSSAA gets the option to "nominate" three candidates in each class and 3 kickers for all classes.   This can be radio, TV, newspaper, internet, etc..   Once those 3 candidates are determined, I'm not sure who makes the final decision.   I'd assume a panel nominated by TSSAA and perhaps the Titans, but I don't know the answer to that.

Marion County has a couple of great kids that should be considered for this award. This team only has a few seniors this year. Kris Layfield and Drake Cardin are both really good linemen. Kris has committed to Cumberland University to play football. We also have some younger kids that carry the ball for us that are really dynamic. My man Kilan Summers has scored a lot of touchdowns for us this season. He has caught and ran touchdowns this year. When he gets the ball in his hand he is electric with it. Coach Mathis also went to Cumberland in college. These kids have been great players this year for Marion County. I hope this award also takes other intangibles into consideration. These kids are high character kids that play the game with decency, great character and integrity. They will flat knock your block off but then help you up after the play. They are also great students in the classroom. #82, #76, and #1 all should be considered for this award and other post season awards. Kids that lack integrity should not be in this conversation. Our coaches teach all of our young men how to be great husbands, fathers and leaders in our community in the future. It's a great day to be a warrior.

FEAR THE SPEED, FEAR THE WING, FEAR THE BEARD, & FEAR THE TEAM!

It would be interesting to know about what you don’t know! Ifin the TSSAA has final say, ain’t no wonder it is largely considered unfair. Perhaps someone will further the discussion on how & who

If that's not the case, you should tell Roy to stop mimicking you like a parrot with catch words like "Orchestrate"...:-D

Dad Burnit, OP has been mimicked by many. Roy is mimicked daily by dozens. Even then GB fellers mimick RD. Figure it’s jest a transition of today’s language.  Does you fellers go around during playoffs too? BTW, Orchestrating is jest a kinder word phrasing fer recruiting. Yep, Recon So.

Last season, we moved the show to Thursday night in the post season and just watched games on Friday's.  I haven't talked to Lee yet, but that's probably what we'll do again this year.   Some of those November nights are better suited for toboggans than headsets.

I would like for you to take a look at Hunter Ensley from Huntingdon. He committed to play baseball at the University of Tennessee before he even played one inning of high school baseball (a Mr. Baseball candidate the past 2 years). He has also been a 4 year starter for the football team. A great QB that can run and pass and outstanding return specialist. But, his greatest strength is probably in the defensive secondary (4 year starter there). I truly believe he could played Division 1 at that position with his size, speed, and instincts.

These are the stats I could find:

Passing: 20-33, 628 yds, 10 tds, 1 Int.
Rushing: 83 carries, 960 yds, 11.6 avg, 20 tds
KR: 113 yds
PR: 233 yds
27 tackles, 3 ints

Not sure if he has any film out there on the Internet or on Hudl, but I would like for you to try to find if your able. He will jump out at you immediately on film. Appreciate it!

If you go back to our Spring show and conversations with Coach Swenson, we mentioned Hunter as a Mr. Football candidate back in June.   Thanks for the info.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
