Why are some counties like Carter county allowed to do that? From what I've read Springfield (Robertson) can only use players from Springfield?

Angelman, you're correct. Closed zone in these parts. Our school board doesnt allow a $300 payment to go play for the good team and say the academics are better and that's why we want to move schools. You have to be zoned Springfield HS to attend SHS and play sports at SHS. Believe me, they're are a few kids from county schools (East Robertson, White House Heritage, Greenbrier and even Jo Byrns) that could help this team.

But Cory did not want to play for Cloudland now did he?

I ask you, should a player be allowed to play where he wishes if his parents are willing to pay the tuition or make the move?

Also, my wife is a substitute teacher for Elizabethton city schools and she can tell you how many kids come from the county to be at Elizabethton. It is a lot.

Should they go back to the county schools when they come of age to play ball?

Another thing, you act as if there are only 4 people on our team, what about the linesmen who open up those holes for Maupin to run through. Or those blocks to allow Rollins to hit his receivers ...oh and dem receivers, what about dem receivers?

You see, it is a TEAM that has gotten us to where we are. Each one doing there part.

I tell you what ask those players if they are sorry for the choice THEY MADE to come play for Elizabethton.

If they would had stayed at their original schools then they would be watching this game from their living room couch.

Quit trying to rob them from their hard work and victories.

If you wish to attack us, feel free but let them have the reward for all of the hard work they did and the reward for their TEAM effort.

If all the county kids were still at their original schools Elizabethton would be watching from the couch too.

all just heard they have also recruited QB from avery county named mitchell

And if and when he comes, his family will move to the area, then he will no longer be part of Avery co. but Carter Co. and get to play for the team/school he desires to play for.

Why should a talented player stay at a school with a weak or poor athletic program when he can use his talents and skills at a school that is strong in these areas. Should he go through his high school years just playing ball or go play ball where he can possibly experience championship football?

These young men, women and their families that desire to come to Elizabethton are coming for a reason. They are not paid to come but rather pay to come...Why ???

Again, all of those kids that come from other schools to be a t Elizabethton do not come to play sports, it is indeed for academic reasons.

As if the coaching has nothing to do with it.

As if all the other players had nothing to do with it.

You act as if Maupin and Rollins are the only ones on the team.

You assume too much.

This position we are in is the result of many players from many years and a great coaching staff that has got us to where we are.

I saw plenty of skilled players last night on that field. Often it is the ones on the front line that makes these you complain about, look so good.

I like how once we find success everybody starts throwing around this carter county all star team nonsense, the best programs always attract the best athletes. Do you actually think that per say Alcoa just by the luck of the draw gets championship caliber talent each year? Greeneville has been on a stellar run for years and deserves much respect but dont you think having those gold balls attracts athletes to a winning program?

Springfield fan here, not saying you brought it up, but I don't this thread to turn into one of those "privates vs public" types of threads, not saying anyone is private, just an example, so Jacket's fans knock off the Carter co bs, there are no excuses, if they beat us it's because they were the better team and we will congratulate them and I trust they will do the same for us if we win. Congrats to both teams and let's both enjoy the process!

    • I coach 3 sports in HS and can tell you that basketball is NOT the most time consuming. I'm not saying it doesn't take a lot of time but between basketball, baseball and football it isn't the most time consuming.
    • While I appreciate being credited with multiple accounts, I have to say that is not true. Will you please report back to your people that I am not someone who provides sharp, witty banter, but rather someone who is putting the shoe on the other foot for some people that have been repeatedly bashing others here and in real life for the past few years? Everything that I have stated has been backed by factual evidence or public record, so no need to be sharp and witty.
    • Yes this process is moving slower than I would have expected
    • also was told coady auston applied, he served as defensive coordinator for greenfield under don pitt several years ago before going to Obion county
    • TSSAA restrictions for hiring non-faculty coaches have been removed for over a year at this point. In the past a non-faculty person had to be "grandfathered" by being an assistant coach for five years, being fingerprinted, and having a background check run per TSSAA rules... since those were rescinded, the board of directors for the school district are responsible for any/all restrictions on hiring non-faculty personnel. I guess what I'm saying to you is that if you really wanted what you posted, it's already possible as long as your local BOE will allow for it.
