I think the classes are released in October. Then teams get a week to move up. Then leagues are set in November.

I scrubbed the data TSSAA provided, and it looks like there are 300 D1 schools by my count. That would make OR #50, which puts them in 6A.  Here are some interesting notes, if that number is correct:

• Potential Region 1-6A - DB, Science Hill, Jeff Co, Mo East, Bearden, Farragut, HVA

  • Could see Fulton, Carter, Gibbs, and Seymour all opt to play 4A ball, now that SD's enrollment has dropped. Tough to predict 5A (and 4A) regions in the Knox area until those schools decide whether to play up or not.

How will the new school up around Tri cities be factored in.Suppose to be a really big school.I wish they would cut it back to 4 or 5 classes with the biggest class being any school over so many kids.Only way to keep from schools with 1,000 more students in same class as the smaller 6a schools

West Ridge if I remember it right on the enrollment numbers was only around 1200, putting them in the 5A bracket, yet they will probably play DB as a local rivalry, From sources up in Kingsport, that will force DB to drop either Alcoa or Oak Ridge in favor of West Ridge.

TSSAA lists their enrollment at 1448. They will be 5A.

I'm not sure why other schools classifications are being discussed on the Oak Ridge thread???????
