If I’m the “PC guy”, I said it wasn’t petty because I’ve heard our band playing during opponent drives literally dozens of times over the years :roflol:

It started when Hendersonville did it at our place during a playoff game one year that we lost. We played them in the semifinals the following year and returned the favor (and won heavily), and I know we’ve done it many times since then.

Your opinion is more than welcome, but we’ve been guilty of this apparent transgression on many occasions ourselves lol

Actually you’re not, since I have no idea who you are? Wasn’t meaning in coacht terms. I’ve never heard our band do it in the short time I’ve been here, nor have I ever before last night anywhere else I’ve been. Returning the favor is one thing, which I still don’t agree with, but this wasn’t that.

Fair enough. I’m not gonna hate on your opinion. A lot of people think it’s tacky. It’s never bothered me personally, but I know the old school had its own set of rules.

Maybe your school needs to get a group together and petition the TSSAA to get the rule changed to ban any perceived annoying band playing.  Every team have one designated Cue Band Coach, he signals to the opposing team's band with a head nod yes when it's ok to play, and with a head shake no when he thinks it's not.  Call it the Stop Bands Misbehaving Clause.

I get it... but was your band on the opposing teams side. That's really where it picks up another level of annoyance the wave was trying to reach.  And then they try to act like it was because of social distancing.. we've been to games this year with no band at all. They need to just be honest and say what they did putting the band and cheerleaders where they did was 100% to try to annoy or distract and cause miss communication to the visiting team.  I call BS on this whole oooh nooo this is completely  normal garbage.. I have seen a band play during an offensive drive. However it was on their own side. Not right in the other teams ear :roflolk:

    • So much talk about an investigation about student record manipulation and then everything has went silent. Has anyone heard how the investigation is going?
    • Basically what you're saying is schools can basically bully students around and get away with it because they are protected. I agree to a certain extent but when schools decisions to keep knuckleheads on staff starts costing kids careers and a college education there is a problem. Our school system last week had a teacher supposedly push a kid and the parents went to the law and the teacher is suspended. So I wouldn't say that they can just do what they want without liability. This case don't pass the smell test because the coach had already been fired before and she got fired after a year on the job. Sounds like the student was right in this case on the outside looking in because the coach gets fired after one year. How many coaches get fired after one year?? Not many.
    • Problem with DB football goes beyond coaching. Like Waco said. Thr band is the main focus of their community and school. They have the resources to be a championship level team. Guarantee Ballard or Witten could have them nationally relevant at some point but everyone down to peewee would have to buy in and at DB we all know that would never happen.
    • I know the RB from OR he’s fast and has good hands. Is good on special teams also. Didn’t want to play defense over to the Ridge.
