Coach smith shows class. Like i said in post earlier this game is emotionally personal to this team this week. You’ll probably see the name Yvette Forrest on all the players from Haywood Friday night, especially her son #44 johnathan Forrest

are they planning anything for that this friday night if so that will be awesome

Very sad story.I couldn’t imagine being in that young man’s shoes. She was my mom’s sorority sister and she spoke highly of her.

You think with all the emotions surrounding this game will cause some mistakes from the Haywood players?

I doubt it. Those kids are locked in man, more locked then then recent years. It’s different

I also knew Johnathon's mother, and she was a wonderful woman.

I know this link has been posted numerous times in previous threads, but I'm posting it again just as a refresher.  LOL

I will say it was both wise and classy for Coach Kirby to instruct his Chargers to take a knee with 4 seconds left. Personally, I would like to thank him for that.

I'll repeat what a lot of others have said.  I would like to see the Tomcats win this game, but I won't be upset with a loss.  Win or lose, both teams will be better prepared for the playoffs.

I don't make predictions when Haywood is concerned.  However, I do expect it to be a good, close, hard hitting game.  Covington is the toughest team Haywood has played to date.  I look forward to the challenge.

    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
