LA vs CPA

I’m excited for this game. It should be a good one with closely matched teams. The loser will definitely have the chance to make things right in the playoffs.  I think it might be a lower scoring game than @Booger and friends predict. The defenses on both sides are pretty stout.

I was listening to a pregame podcast and was a little surprised that Dilfer called out the AAA coaches for not returning his call!  Good interviews with both coaches. I’ll link it from Twitter.

When the playing field is level, the AAA privates don't want nothing to do with you. Glad Dilfer called em out

A few things from the podcast, which overall was great.  Trent mentioned only playing 3 close games in the past 2 years.  Well, he did not mention that Pope beat LA last year - and the year before.  Am I suggesting Pope would beat LA this year, no.  Do i think Pope is "ducking" LA, no.

And what does "when the playing field is level..." mean?

When they don't have more talent than their opponent

He could have played all the AAA teams he wanted this year. He chose to stay down.

The pool of teams that will play him is dwindling in TN. He is going to get that "national schedule" he wanted soon.

of course he could have...if Dilfer wants to move LA up to Da-AAA (like Knox Catholic did) he could do it tomorrow.  He chose something else....BA, Ensworth...they have similar enrollments and they chose to play up...and have for years.  Not up to the rest of us to accommodate a Californian who has been coaching in Tennessee for 2 years.

Not to nit pick but he did say since "week 3 of last year"....lost to BA and PJP2 in weeks 1 and 2.

Doesn’t seem like it would help the situation though. I think he kinda got caught up in a humble brag, which we all do, and wanted to say we’re so good nobody will play us :)

no doubt....not sure why he would call out MBA and Ensworth specifically.  But what he said is 100% fact.  We also thought BA would return the favor after we played them last year at their place.  Cody said no....now we know why.

    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
