Oh they won't go by bus to Nooga,  they are such world-beaters the TSSAA will charter a jet for them.

Hey, we just get a chance to get excited about once every 30 years.  We ain’t perennial powers like you fellas.  You’ve gotta overlook our enthusiasm I guess.  Several of these kids dads and uncles were on our ‘89 team that went 9-1 regular season and the ‘90 team that went 10-0 regular season.  Since them days we’ve just beat Gordy in ‘91, ‘96, ‘03, ‘08, and ‘19.  Time for another one.

Like I said, not perennial powers like you guys.  We appreciate the motivation that comes from your disregard us though.  Many thanks.

It is not disregarding a team when making a prediction. My comment was in reference to “being definitely more talented than Gordonsville,” and “having 6-7 that would definitely start on any team in the East.” Those statements seem definitely more dismissive toward Gordonsville or any other school in the East.

I am all for being proud of the community and players. Good Luck

Well said, I definitely painted myself into a corner with that comment.  I do believe that we’ve got a handful of kids that have the drive, skill, physicality, and maturity to be starters anywhere in the east.  That’s said with admiration for them more than disdain for anybody else’s guys.

    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
