Rankin leaving Alcoa

There should be no reason other than retirement that Rankin leaves Alcoa.  I did however hear that he was interested to a point in the Oak Ridge job when it was open.  He even went and visited the school's AD.  I saw photographic evidence of this as a matter of fact.  What he was doing there is the rumor. lol

It is a well known fact that Coach Rankin, when he was at Riverdale, would go and meet with any school that contacted him. Whether he continued this policy while at Alcoa I do not know.

This is better than "Who shot JR" on Dallas years ago......:popcorneater:

And goes back almost as long. I'm 300 miles from Alcoa, and over the years I've been "let in on" enough second hand word on the street from jr. espionage agents to fill a library...all validated by the wife's second cousin from so-and-so that was seated back to back with Rankin at the restaurant, and overheard the entire conversation. At some point Rankin will no longer be the coach at Alcoa, other than that, I'd just read along and take it at face value (entertainment).

Alcoa has been very successful for a long time. However, it is hard to know if Alcoa will be just as successful once Rankin leaves. I am sure die hard Alcoa fans will say the success will continue, but I think it will be very difficult for anyone to duplicate what Rankin has done at Alcoa.

I think the success will come early, I am interested if it can be sustained for the long haul like Rankin has. Only time will tell. I certainly would not want to be the guy that replaces a Legend.

Not to down play the success Rankin had/has, but, Alcoa had won two straight Championships when Rankin was hired....and the Program had won 3 Championships in the 5 years before he came in. Several key Coaches and assistants where retained when Coach Rankin was hired, and they have remained on the staff. I see the Offense and Defense coaches  staying and the run continuing.

Fair. I do not have any ties to Alcoa. I have just sat back and watched in amazement.

    • One of the biggest loosing teams in Mid-State are the Macon County Tigerettes. I have noticed that the roster is smaller than in the years past. All the senior's have quit. We have a great group of Jr High players coming up. I sure hope they don't loose them, like they have lost so many others this year. With this young group of girls coming up, a weaker district, they should have no problem going to State.
    • It was updated this season, because I did it.  Linder is the school's all-time leading rusher at 5,156 yards with 2,436 of those coming in 2014.
    • Oh, I’m sure you did. Maybe you heard just a rumor, but considering we have a football practice field and a soccer field that’s frequently used for lacrosse games and practices, I highly doubt it. Let me change that. I know for a fact that didn’t happen.   Glad you finally stopped attacking a bunch of high school students, but still obsessed with the coaching staff for some unknown reason, even though you could name more than three (at most) coaches without looking it up. But now come up with something else.
    • You really mean the Price twin boys and Lyin Larry.
    • Now that wouldn’t surprise me a bit. That has been going on heavily since the days of Larry Kerr @ AC. One of the major reasons CC has never really had much at all, barring about 2 seasons in football. AC milks it dry.
