District tournament is a big deal for Summertown and Loretto.  Winner will not be challenged in region until the championship.  Loser will have a really tough game in the semifinal against Cheatham County.

Going to Summertown or Loretto is a long drive to really tough place to play for Westview, Gibson or Huntingdon.  But those three are much more talented than Summertown and Loretto this year.

You seen Westmoreland?? Did they lose some from last year?? They actually beat York in Region Finals last year I am thinking.

Saw film of a couple games. They defend well.  Their coach does a good job.  I don't think they have the scorers to play with York this year.  They could still get to state as the rest of their section (Cannon Co, Community, East Nashville) all are pretty equal.

Much more talented !!!   Don’t know bout that

I hadn’t seen much of either York or Westmoreland. I agree if your talking about Region 5 and 6. Summertown and Loretto are always dangerous. I am not even thinking that program right now. We have our hands full with Huntingdon and getting out of the Region. We have to be focussed.

Central has beaten Alcoa and Bradley Central this year. Got a team that is really good that won’t be in the Boro, Only two of Alcoa, McMinn Central and Gatlinburg Pittman will be there, right???

McMinn Central will be tough to handle in the Round-House. Will have an easy time getting to the Sub-State game against the loser or the Alcoa-GP game.

It will be a cake walk to the Substate game.  It's been a long time since Central made it to the State Tourney, but should this year.  Next season they should be one of the favorites to win it all.
I'm still amazed how Molly Masingale was overlooked as one of the finalists for Miss Basketball.

Don't forget that it was Molly and other sophomores and juniors on the team that won a Middle School State Championship. And there are sophomores and juniors on the team that were the second best Middle School team that same year.
They may be a season away, but they'll be phenomenal in 2023-2024.

Sorry I know this is an old thread but I’m just reading this. I have a stupid question.  I know McMinn Central is AA but did Molly play on a class A team for that middle school championship year?  My daughters played for South Fulton in a championship game that same year and played against a girl named Molly that was really good.

    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
