Have you seen Dresden play? And why do you think peabody is that far ahead. One common opponent in Westview that was basically the same score.

I saw Dresden play in a preseason scrimmage. Did they look good? Yes. Did they look great like a state championship caliber team, I'm hesitant to say yes.

Peabody has more experience and a better coaching staff. Coaching staff will help that team in November (not saying Dresden's staff is bad). In addition, did Driggers play in the Westview game?

Yes he did and coaching staff is a flip. Hodge is a proven rebuilder and winner.

It will be a close game for sure and I'm definitely not going to count Dresden out. It was a 23-14 game last year. Could be even closer this year

Mckenzie had like 3 or 4 scores called back in this one last year and had like 100 more penalty yards than Dresden. Maybe they can clean that up this year. I believe McKenzie also took a knee on the 1yd line with over a minute left.

And on the turnaround if Dresden doesn't fumble twice they might win. Dresden is among the most improved teams in the area this year and they weren't bad at all last year. If McKenzie isn't on their game they may leave that game a 2 seed.

Yes and from what I’m told he still isn’t 100%. We are missing other key players now.

Yes driggers played. It was his first game of the season if I recall correctly. Id still give the advantage to Dresden.

Huntingdon is always stronger as the year goes on. Or at least the time I've been following HS football.

Until the playoffs :roflolk:

In all seriousness though, when it comes to our offense we only have a plan A. We typically start out a little slow in the season and spend all year perfecting plan A and will look very dangerous going into the playoffs.

Then we will inevitably run into a team with enough athletes and a specific gamelan to shut down plan A, and we have lacked the ability to make adjustments and deviate from plan A.

That's why you'll see so many posters call out the coaching for not having a plan B. But if you don't practice it all year, you can't really pull it out at halftime of a playoff game..

Well, naturally as a Covington fan, I think the Chargers are one of the top 5 or 6 teams in West Tennessee, our opening loss to Munford not withstanding.  And, I think that Munford has proven to be a very solid and much improved team this season.

I think that we scrimmaged both Union City and Huntingdon in the preseason quite successfully. We haven’t had the strongest schedule since Munford, but I like our chances to have an impact again this year in the playoffs.

Regardless, this thread is just opinion anyway, and we are blessed to actually have a playoff system in high school football to rank teams based on actual performance.

    • Tough situation.  Not sure the ROI is there right now.   Might be better options that are cheaper.
    • Yeah summer ball is really fun, but a lot of coaches are trying to play several kids to get much needed reps that they are not accustomed to. I would imagine Gibson County will have lots of players playing to get much needed reps. Want to win games but got to get experience as well and the rotation will be much deeper. I will be at MTSU, UTM Bethel and others. MTSU is the one I really look forward to.
    • So who are the new additions to the staff? Serious answers only please.
    • Its always interested to see the state teams the following summer after losing or not losing seniors and getting freshman and transfers. It's almost time.
    • Maryville has Alcoa on the schedule at the right time of the season which helped last year instead of at the first of the year not knowing much. West will be hard pressed to repeat this year but next will be a different story.
