I’d rather see Gordonsville again in week 3. Both teams have to win next two weeks though.

Personally, I would rather see us avenge South Pitt denying a trip to the title game in 1985. With that said, I'll be happy to see us get by Sale Creek first. Can't get to round 3 if don't get to round 2 first. Nevertheless, I would be happy either way if we were playing in the quarterfinals.

You may not get the chance. This SP team isn’t like some you’ve seen. They are very young overall in numbers.  If you don’t get the chance this year then I’m sure you will get the chance again next season.

I was a freshman on that 85 Pirate team. I remember that game very well.

I was an 8th grader on the GB team that went to Pitt and lost all I remember I was COLD!

Out of pure curiosity, what year does the SP faithful claim they fielded the best team in school history? I know there’s been a lot of great ones but just curious on which is considered the best

A question that will never have a definite answer.

Some will say 62, some 69. Others will say 94, 98, 99, 07. Still others will throw in different years. 74, 85, 86. Each one obviously had it's own strengths to make it one of the best but there will be little agreement on just which one is THE 1.

 

I'll just throw out an odd one ... 1924. The first team ever. They went undefeated and set the standard we live by today.
