If you're one of the posters who doesn't think Alcoa is as battle tested as they should be at the end of every year look at this.  In 2023 & 2024 they are playing:

Maryville

Knoxville West

Bearden

Greeneville

Ravenwood

That would be a gauntlet of contests for any team in the state (including Oakland).  Alcoa fans will definitely get their money's worth the next 2 years if they are looking to see their guys competing against other strong football programs.

I think it is a direct correlation to their success. It is no secret that Alcoa is the team to beat every single year in 3A, but I think this nasty schedule gets them ready for the playoffs every single year.

When my team (Boone) plays a nasty schedule or if we have it easy (like last year) we still get whacked early in the playoffs.     Schedule strength/weakness just doesn't matter, we almost always exit in round 1 or 2.        Would be interested in your thoughts as to why a tough sched works for Alcoa but not for most other schools.

It's getting over the Knoxville hump blazer. (Mentally more than anything).  No one was beating Knox West this past year and arguably the 1st or 2nd (Would be a great game with Oakland) best team in the state for Public Schools.  What kills a lot of NE TN teams is having overall team speed and working on that a ton in the off season and having a great coach and scheme to combat that (Sometimes it's not about the X's and O's but the Jimmy and Joe's too).

Greeneville over the past 15 years has bought into the strength and speed training (They took it from Alcoa and Maryville) so they could compete for Championships and that tougher schedule and why they have beaten much larger schools than them along the way.  You can look at Anderson County now that is doing the same thing to bring home a State Championship this past year for the first time ever.  They had to get the Greene Devil and Cyclones both off their back this year for the first time ever and started to schedule tougher teams the last several years because beating Chattanooga teams by 40 every week wasn't getting them past the Quarters in the play-offs when they would face a team that had overall team speed

I am in total agreement about team (overall) speed, NET teams in 5A/6A just don't have it.      Well..... some schools have it but the athletes are for whatever reason not playing football.

Greeneville will be much better next year….  Should be a great game

    • Oh yeah, I’m sure you are different people just always on the same thread for some reason, always agreeing with each other, perhaps just a bunch of dorks who would like to ###### and moan about high school football coaches do a lot of other students, so you make a football team and get a yell at them. When they do something wrong, but I’m sure you don’t like that, do you?   and I’m sure I’m aware of where you get information. A teacher who was on the coaching staff but was fired after the new coaching and staff came in and realized he actually had to start taking his assistant job a little bit more seriously than just wanting to make a little extra cash on the side, hardly even showing up to most practices, should’ve left with his buddy to go to Farragut. I’m sure he could get him a defensive coaching job, but I doubt he will be there in three years. Looking at the way Farragut is currently going.
    • It may be hard to believe but there’s more people than me that think you guys are a bunch of losers.    I’m sure the coaching staff, yourself included, cursed at a bunch of high school students. Nobody could name more than 3 coaches on staff due to the constant turnover.
    • That's complete BS.  Nobody at ACHS has access to CHS student records unless a transfer is made from CHS to ACHS.
    • Trez's last scandal has died down, so I guess this is there opportunity to be the best 4A team playing in 2A a la Sissy MTN.  At least they won't be in a Z-district with 1a teams in the regular season.
    • Facts...until someone takes down the Rebels they should be the favorite. Got loads of young guys salivating at the opportunity to prove themselves and get a 3peat! Blazer how is Region 1 looking this year?
