Lol need a few more get back coaches but I doubt y'all will have any problems in region play our region looks like it will be West Powell and Halls fighting it out for the top 3 slots and heritage and Central fighting for 4th

If we play the way we did tonight anything is possible. The whole night was just weird. Guess we will see, but I take nothing for granted.

Big win for the Cherokees tonight over a ranked, undefeated team!
Congratulations to the coaches and players!

What I saw tonight was a team not worthy of a ranking. OR has A LOT to work on before they can even think about being a top 5 team in 5A. It was a pretty lousy showing, primarily offensively speaking. With that said, I take nothing away from MC. Like I said earlier, they deserved the victory, and got it. I credit Dozier, he ran his tail off tonight and took some really hard licks and kept on churning, but aside from him it was a bad showing by the rest of our guys on offense.

It was the weirdest FB game .

OR was off from the opening kick, 3 TOs called just to get  plays in, one snap with a WR still looking at the staff for the call  so we get a critical motion penalty late( which OR could not afford due to MCHS good team D and OR O sputtering), 4 sideline flags, 2 marked off, 1 for 15 yards on 4th and 5 for MCHS, coach gets run which I have never seen in any level of FB in 68 years, OR dropped critical passes like the ball was hot, etc. Just a very weird night.

OH well, my parents were raised in McMinn county so I'd rather lose to the Cherokees than most teams. Good luck to them the rest of the season and the Wildcats need to return to the previous 3 weeks of productivity or we're gonna lose several games moving forward. Be real hard to handle some of our foes in the next 5 weeks.

Game went the way I was worried about going in. They chunked OR out on that long drive to score early using a huge amount of clock. OR not being able to match that score settling for a field goal set the tone. The OR offense was just off especially the passing game with bad throws and drops. All of that let the officiating become a factor in the game and while I don’t usually complain about that, it seemed the calls were going against OR especially stuff like the sideline calls. But here again the offense was off enough and add poor field position and they never could get the lead, and the clock ran out and there you go. Lots of work to do this week especially on offense. Going to be a long night in Clinton next week if it doesn’t get cleaned up.

Yes, they played lousy. It happens sometimes. I think it’s a bit extreme to say it negates all of the good things they’ve done up until now.

    • A lot of people don’t realize how valuable JMO was. QB, safety, punter and holder on pat’s. Kid did it all. I fully believe if he was healthy Dburg would have made it to the ship last year.
    • If Dyersburg quarterback who is also starting safety hadn’t got hurt it would of another blowout
    • For perspective the county school I’m associated and graduated from only has 7,600 people in the entire county with a median age of roughly 47. That’s not very many 14-18 year olds to choose from. I think the football team had 25-28 kids or around there.  On the other hand Shelby County has 916,000+ with a median age of 36. This isn’t just about Shelby county, but all the big ones with huge economic advantages!  An urban/rural split would benefit tons of smaller schools that have to compete with counties with 120x the amount of people. Especially the ones who can pick and choose their players from a pool like that!   I also agree with Pujo about charter and magnets and they will eventually be phased into the private divisions because it is obviously an advantage plus all the funding! Add that county schools can’t go recruit outside of their county like charters and magnets!
    • They should be starting next week and go from there.  They never do Spring Practice in April
