I remember one year being up at "The Skeetur" for the William Blount game.  The Gov's had a player named Russell Gasche (pronounced Gash-ee).  Mayor kept calling him "Gash" in the first half.  At halftime, I wondered up in the press box and shared with him that I was the PA guy for WB and that Russell pronounced his name "Gash-ee."  He was very appreciative, as I would have been if the shoe was on the opposite foot.  Second half starts, guess how he pronounced his name the rest of the game?  "Russell GASH on the carry!"  Never knew if he just didn't actually hear me or if he was doing it on purpose!
