Change at Oneida after 2025

Recommended Posts

If the so called rumors are true, of returning players transferring or declining to play in 2025 will be a sad state of affairs for a proud football program. Oneida football set the standard for other schools similar in size to strive for. It was built on toughness, discipline, hard work, and strong community support. I always thought that when players didn’t play because they didn’t like the coach was a lame excuse, no coach should keep a player from playing and giving their all for their teammates, school, and community. But, I’m old school (and proud of it) and things have changed as the younger generation seem to look at things differently. I really hope the community can rally around the team and I hope every player that wears the orange and white has a desire to be out there.  East Tennessee High School Football is just better IMO when Oneida is a strong competitive program. Oneida football seems to be at the crossroads with Coach May going out and the new coach coming in, and it can go south in a hurry without player buy in. I’m not an Oneida fan, just a strong supporter of East Tennessee high school football. Hopefully the adults involved with the program, can make the right decisions to make the transition smooth. The only baffling situation is I’m not sure why they would not post the position and interview as I’m sure many quality candidates would be interested in the job.  That’s not a knock on the incoming coach as he may turn out to be the right guy, but I’m sure there’s some concern about him being handed the keys to the bus with no head coaching experience.  Best of luck to Oneida football!

I have spoken to more than one either player or players guardian and I have been told at least 2 multi-year starters that have been impact players will finish their high school ball elsewhere. Many others are reportedly either doing the same or just declining to play per the unconfirmed reports. The roster will be interesting.

In 1985,  Bill Elliott made up 2 laps under green at Talladega superspeedway turning laps over 205mph.  His son is current nascar driver chase Elliott.  Mark Martin is another driver from that era who won 40+ races

Thank you for the insight lol. I was totally lost not gonna lie.

Brother the fact of the matter is whoever is making these changes has absolutely NO CLUE what they are doing. It’s an absolute shame, Oneida has two very talented classes. The Junior and Senior classes are loaded with talent. It’s an absolute shame the way their highschool careers have turned out. Little to no progress whatsoever. It’s comical the way the program has went and all the decision makers that have went and made these changes/decisions. And yes, as you know, a pretty big number of kids have either quit or transferred. I am certainly not knocking anyone personally and would no shape or form intend to down anyone. This program however has been pitiful. There is no way around it, no way to lie. Sad to see.

This is true… I can confirm. My inside source told me the exact number and it’s baffling…

Where are they going to go though? The dumpster fire that is Scott County High School?

Most seem to be opting out all together, some are going to Scott and yes that is sort of out of the frying pan and I to the fire situation I agree but they feel they can at least have fun playing ball there for one year. That’s something they say they haven’t experienced to this point in HS. I thought you said some were coming to CF? I know you’re a smoke blower most of the time. So was that more smoke or have you really heard that. I’m working off memory and haven’t went back to check if it was you to be honest so if not and it was someone else then my bad and I apologize.

Let’s make a comment shall we fellas. Game 1, Webb coached team. Rockwood will bring some fire, as normal and they will be ready. This year it will be played in Jim May Stadium, and will be the start of the 2025 season as football in Tennessee is set under way. Although they will come play with fire, I believe the Indians will start the season off as 1-0, after watching Rockwood play the last couple of years. Game #2 at Harriman. Harriman picked up a great Head Coach. Graham was a phenomenal coach at Oak ridge where he previously coached and I believe he coached at AE as well, correct me if I’m wrong fellas. I know he will have a great turn around for his kids, with that being said, although this is going to happen, the kids having to adjust to a new coach is not easy. I know that from expierence. I think Harriman will be a little rocky this year but in the up and coming years they could be a team team to beat. So, I think that puts the Indians at 2-0 but once again, you never know. Week 3. Indians will become 2-1. I don’t see the Indians competing with Bledsoe as they’ve struggled up front every year against any team and Bledsoe is unmatched compared to the Indians. Week 4, CAK. CAK plays a tough schedule and we have yet to play them for a little while now. I’m not 100% sure how well they are going to be yet this year, got to reach out to some of my contacts, but this game could go either way, I have the Indians being 3-1 after this game in a tight-knit game. Week 5, Tellico plains. Don’t get me started on this game. I don’t know how the Indians were able to lose this game last season. Tellico has been off their game for years now, and aren’t very good, but neither of we to be quite frank. With that being said, I believe this year the Indians will win putting them at 4-1. Week 6, Coalfield. Oneida has not been able to compete with the jackets for a while now, and I’m hoping this year breaks that, but even then, you know that Coalfield will be very well coached with Napier up there. This game is at home, but can the Indians bring enough juice. Last year we ran out, and they owned us in that second half. This game is controversial and could honestly go either way I’ll have us at 4-2 after this game. Oliver Springs, week 7. We know that they are big up front, per usual. I know Oliver springs has some talent, some kids getting recruited to play d1 ball. This could also go either way, especially considering the competitiveness between the two schools. I’ll have 4-3 after this game in most likely a close game. Sweetwater, week 8. I’ll be honest I haven’t really kept up with them, but from what I’ve heard they are the lowest right now of 3A. I’ll just take an odd guess and predict a 5-3 record after this game, but I will be looking into this game to see if I change my mind after I look into them some. Polk County, week 9. We’ve played close with them every year, they lost most to all their players last year, I’ll have this 6-3. Week 10, Eagleton. Eagleton as well is on the same path, lost a few of their best players and aren't looking to well, but again one of those teams we play close to every year. 7-3 after this game.

that concludes my predictions, let me know.
