Thanks for the update on Mark. He is a fine young man and will do well in any position that he plays. Your right about him being a great DB, but he is so exciting and such a threat running the ball, it will make for some tough decisions for his coaches in college. Coach Lundsford and staff have done a great job with Mark and the entire team, from such a small school. Super community support and involvement have made Roan Mtn. football just what it should be, fun for everyone involved.

Hey, I was at that game. Smyrna offense only had the ball twice that first half, and they scored once. If David Wolke would have had his recievers catch the football & the defense showed up it would have been a different outcome. Remember it takes more than one person to win a football game it is a team sport. He can't center the ball to himself, block, throw the ball, run out there and catch it. Plus play all the positions on defense too. And it looked like to me he tore you guys up in the second half. It was a gutsey performance. Hope to see you guys next year.

Cade Thompson of Maryville. He is Maryville's quarterback. He is 6'2 175 lbs. His dad is strength and conditioning coach at MHS so I figure by his senior year he will be 6'3 plus and 200 lbs.Has great form on his throwing motion.Very smart player. May break all the passing records before he is through.

The thing is Cade may not start. Alex Rouse is a very good quarterback. Alex runs the option to perfection.Alex is 6'2 175 lbs and can run like a deer. Right before he got hurt. He ran an option keeper and ran 60 yds for a touchdown. He dusted the Dobyns Bennet defensive backs on that play. He killed Soddy Daisy in that scrimmage game with the option. Alex is a great athlete.

Both kids will play at quarterback. Alex will be utilized just like Scott Wilks was. Alex is faster than Wilks. Thompson is a better passer than Rouse but Rouse can throw the ball well too.Rouse is a much better runner than Cade is.Cade is not too shabby at running the ball though.

Bottom line! Maryville is stacked at quarterback. There is a sophomore who will be very good but he will not start until his senior year. Kat Kimsey is a very good athlete.

You must be kidding when yo say that the Stanton kid from Carter will be the best in Knoxville next year. I don't know much about the Carter situation, but did he start this past season (when I looked in the KNOX.PREPs I didn't see him listed). If you include the Maryville QB's, I don't see Stanton even being all-region. Then you have the QB from Central that started this past year & led his team to the 2nd or 3rd round of the play-offs.

Not to judgemental, but when I look at your sign, you must be the young mans dad. Hope he has a great year because you could catch a lot of flak if he doesn't!

There is a very good chance that ryan moore will go first round in the draft. It doesnt matter how inconsistent or how bad your accuracy is. If you can throw 92 as a sophomore lefthander, you have a great chance of going first round. I don't know if you remember David Meade from Soddy High, but he couldnt get anywhere close to the plate and he threw 95 and went first round. However, when it comes to his QB skills, he might be a little overrated.

HEY GOV THE LAST TIME I CHECKED MARYVILLE WASN'T IN KNOXVILLE.UNLIKE A LOT OF USERS ON HERE I DON'T HIDE BEHIND SOME YOU CAN'T GUESS WHO I AM NAME.I AM STANTON'S DAD I MADE A STATEMENT AND WE'LL SEE WHAT HAPPENS.I THINK HELTON AT CENTRAL AND STANTON AT CARTER ARE THE TWO BEST QBS COMING BACK.

qbsdad,

Don't blame you for feeling confident about your son. But when I made the statement about Maryville, I think I said he might not even make all-region. Since you are not hiding behind some fictious name, why didn't you just say, "my SON will be the best QB in Knoxville next year". Hope everything works out for you and your son, but always remember, sometimes undue pressure on a young player creates problems. I hope your son becomes the best he can possibly be, if that is the best in Knoxville, so be it. If not, so be it. Let the young man grow and perform without being in a pressure cooker because of statements from a proud parent!

Last but not least - I don't need glasses nor capital letters to read a post.

:o:o:D

    • And can you tell me who those two quarterbacks were, and every kid that was put into college from Bearden is a Bearden kid? It’s kind of why they graduated from Bearden.   and I would definitely not consider ETSU “waste”…
    • Most of this is complete gibberish. But the one part I could decipher is putting kids in college. This coaching staff hasn’t put a single Bearden kid in college. They completed wasted one of the best WRs in East TN and have ruined two talented QBs. All because they’re in over their heads.
    • Well, I’d hope the new coaching staff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching staff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.
    • After that first paragraph, I can see why you’re a TA and not a teacher. Have you made the move from South Knoxville to Bearden yet?    Maybe he left because he is an actual teacher and coach, and didn’t want to be associated with a group of foul mouthed middle school coaches who like to pretend they’re big time.
    • Yeah and the coach is gone. Whole bizarre situation here. We played them a couple of times at MTSU last few years. She was a player for sure.
