trust me, several people have approached woods about the things going on in the program, and he agreed to make changes , however it was obvious he just told the concerned fans what they wanted to hear, because things have only gotten worse!!! and thats a fact, taken from the west faculity! :) !!

I mention this in another post at the beginning of the season, the conerstone for west was the defensive coach that left the squad. He was truely the best coach on the staff (including Woods). They miss his leadership and he kept Woods in line. I have seen this , I played for him and he has my respect in the things that he has contibuted. They will need time to adjust. We can't expect the same team as last year we graduated way to many, just face the fact that we may not be as good as we were last year..... right now.

Who left the staff? I know that MOWest was well coached defensively.

I'm not sure if it is fact or fiction. Just told that by a friend in M'town.

I can't imagine either team wanting to play on Monday with a game the following Friday. If a player isn't ready to play a game like this on Wednesday there is something wrong. Players who wouldn't play on Thursday, they wouldn't be healthy enough to play on Friday so I don't think playing on Thursday would matter. I would assume both teams would want to play a regular season game on Thursday.

I think this game is one that you throw out the records. M'town has to be confident regardless of what their record is this year since they are the only team to beat M'ville since the Clinton presidency.

A lot of the posts have Maryville winning big but football is a strange game. West is well coached (regardless of what some posters have said) as is Maryville so I think this week's game will show the true colors of each team's coaching staff. Great thing about high school football...each week is a new adventure.

ive heard a couple different possible dates for the game. ive heard, thursday, friday, saturday, or monday. if they choose to paly this game on saturday that would be the worst move in high school football history. who in their right mind would plan a game on the same night as the tennessee vs. florida game. that is ridiculous, that game would probably set attendance lows. but i dont see how it really matters when the game is played whether it be monday, or tomorrow, Maryville is gonna beat the snot out of mo-west, because this is their revenge game. mo-west doesnt have near enough skill to compete with a tough Maryville team this year. im still goin with two tds or more, its definately possible, mo-west isnt very good.

well....tkb25 you need to watch out you sound obsessive I think your taking it a little to far with this whole bradley james thing. He hasnt really done anything this year and seeing how your number is 25 and his is also your probably jus ta friend or something that is giving him credit and what you are really doing is making him look bad b/c when you say all this and he doenst play good it makes him look bad. so would you plz shut up b/c you prob dont even play football. and if you were have decent you would still be playing or coaching. you dont know what goes on in lockerooms and how things are done so until your on the field playing and going through what the coaches and players go through just keep your mouth shut. BUT ok back to what the post was about football... Maryville and West hmm maryville very very very good West = decent west defense looks kind of slow from what ive seen but i think if there offense can get a rhythm going they could hold there own with us. but all in all i say mowest is ready to play coming off a lost to jeff county and maryville is wanting some revenge but maryville comes out on top by 21 or more. but it will be a hard fought game on both sides... this is a great rivalry to watch GO REBELS!!!

I don't usually say much on these boards, mostly I just like to listen to what people say. Just for the record, I am a parent, a fan, I have not missed a game in 6 years and see most of the practices. I hope that qualifies. As far as Coach Woods and his staff is concerned, you will not find better Coaches, on or off the field. He teaches them alot of things they will not learn in the classroom and it may be that some of the teaching staff at West don't like him because he earns the respect of the players and they seem to have a long way to go in that area. As far as playing kids because of money or because he likes the parents or something, thats just stupid and everyone knows it. If you are upset because your kid is not playing, he needs to work harder. If he wants to start, he needs to work even harder! And if he wants to get a hold of the ball, he better want it more than anything else! I've been upset before about my sons not playing as much as I thought they should, but those Coaches know alot more than I do about how they play football. You have to have some trust in thier judgement and believe they know what they are doing. We have alot of talent on this team and they just need a little time. Mo'west vs. Maryville? Never underestimate your opponent.

    • Understand the young thing.  I was one of those.  Barely 17 when I graduated from high school and started college.  But redshirting for athletic purposes isn't doing them any favors, in my opinion.  Life isn't always going to be fair.

    • The Girls Basketball team I am a part of played for a gold ball this season. One of the biggest differences in the sports is that there is no field prep/maintenance in basketball.   Our baseball is successful and play 30 games in the regular season as well. All of the teams dedicate A LOT of time in preparing for their next opponent.
    • Im pretty excited about the new rules that NFHS voted to adopt. Does anyone know if this will take place in Tennessee starting this year? I think I heard/read somewhere that the TSSAA bi-laws say they have to mirror what the NFHS does, and when the NFHS offered the current weight classes as options, TSSAA didn’t adopt them until NFHS made them official. Did NFHS make these changes official starting next season or will it be similar to the weight classes where TSSAA doesn’t change what they are doing until it is  an officially official part of the NFHS rule book? It’ll be interesting to see if it is rolled out for the new TSSAA Middle School season and I saw a post where the youth wrestling in TN was going to vote on adopting it as well.  I’ll pray for all the youth coaches that will have to shoulder the confusion from all those crazy #### parents who already think they know the rules more than everyone else  . Imagine the first time their kid is taken down and a 3 goes up on the scoreboard or their kid gets pinned with only one point of contact in the cylinder. Their heads might explode. i kid, I kid. Sort of. I’m surprised ride time was brought down with all the other changes. I know some argue that it promotes stalling on top, but its been an official scoring method in college forever, so I figure it must be doing something right. Do any of you think that’ll ever be implemented?
