  1. Past hour
  2. my prayers are with Mike and all his family and loved ones. prayers for the strength, comfort and peace that only God and Christ can bring us. along with personal prayers for his brother(s), i have 2 myself and I count them as the one of the greatest gifts The Lord ever gave me.
  3. Im pretty excited about the new rules that NFHS voted to adopt. Does anyone know if this will take place in Tennessee starting this year? I think I heard/read somewhere that the TSSAA bi-laws say the have to mirror what the NFHS does, and when the NFHS offered the current weight classes as options, TSSAA didn’t adopt them until NFHS made them official. Did NFHS make these changes official starting next season or will it be similar to the weight classes where TSSAA doesn’t change what they are doing until it is an officially official part of the NFHS rule book? It’ll be interesting to see if it is rolled out for the new TSSAA Middle School season and I saw a post where the youth wrestling in TN was going to vote on adopting it as well. I’ll pray for all the youth coaches that will have to shoulder the confusion from all those crazy #### parents who already think they know the rules more than everyone else . Imagine the first time their kid is taken down and a 3 goes up on the scoreboard or their kid gets pinned with only one point of contact in the cylinder. Their heads might explode. i kid, I kid. Sort of. I’m surprised ride time was brought down with all the other changes. I know some argue that it promotes stalling on top, but its been an official scoring method in college forever, so I figure it must be doing something right. Do any of you think that’ll ever be implemented?
  4. Crazy how the thread just gets deleted when facts come out.
  5. I understand I guess it depends on the school you are with and the time you want to put in. It’s evident of the schools that don’t put in as much times. I would say basketball players put in as much time as any sport in our school system and this is coming from a football town. Bball is a longer season than other sports.
  6. 7 Pages of complaining because the lacrosse team put removable lines on the field so that they could practice/play lacrosse Y'all boys are bored huh lol
  7. I can’t think of that 83 game without picturing DW’s little grin!
  8. Today
  9. Exactly right OR2. I say it was our sick kicker’s fault! In fairness, the ‘82 f’n hairtage team was good. The ‘83 team played ALOT of sophs.
  10. I coach 3 sports in HS and can tell you that basketball is NOT the most time consuming. I'm not saying it doesn't take a lot of time but between basketball, baseball and football it isn't the most time consuming.
  11. Yes this process is moving slower than I would have expected
  12. also was told coady auston applied, he served as defensive coordinator for greenfield under don pitt several years ago before going to Obion county
  13. Yesterday
  14. TSSAA restrictions for hiring non-faculty coaches have been removed for over a year at this point. In the past a non-faculty person had to be "grandfathered" by being an assistant coach for five years, being fingerprinted, and having a background check run per TSSAA rules... since those were rescinded, the board of directors for the school district are responsible for any/all restrictions on hiring non-faculty personnel. I guess what I'm saying to you is that if you really wanted what you posted, it's already possible as long as your local BOE will allow for it.
  15. Shopping? His family is loaded and he's 6'6 I'm pretty sure he could start anywhere in upper East TN,So no need to shop. Word is Witten got caught trying to work him out on campus and some 7 on 7 while playing athletics for Sullivan East. Word got around pretty quick and Someone turned them into TSSAA.
  16. Quick update on Jacob - Jacob celebrated his 16th birthday at Vanderbilt on Tuesday and has been in decent spirits. His sense of humor has begun to show as he was visited by many friends. He is swallowing a lot better now and has eaten some of his favorites (Chik-Fil-A and Five Guys). He is getting prepared to head to Atlanta to the Shepherd Center first thing tomorrow morning. His family has been waiting on insurance approval. In case you dont know the Shepherd Center it a world class facility and supposedly one of the best in the country for spinal injury rehab. Praying for perfect results there. Considering the circumstances, Jacob is in decent spirits. He has some reflexive movement in his legs which I think is probably a very positive sign. Don't read too much into that just yet as there is no telling what the real prognosis is... just hopeful that is good thing. I am really just happy that it seems like he has a punchers chance of getting something back. He is a strong young man and very determined so I think he will fight as hard as he can in physical therapy while down in Atlanta. More than one of you has asked me about an address to send donations. I know GoFundMe isn't for everyone. If you want to go that route, you can make a check to "Blackman Wrestling Club" and we will pass anything received directly to the Kinderdines. Jacob Kinderdine c/o Blackman Wrestling 4836 Trevino Court Murfreesboro, TN 37128 Also, want to thank everyone who has donated so far. Jacobs dad will take a month off work and stay in Atlanta with him. They need to learn how to take care of him and do home therapy work..... and surely Jacob will be glad his dad can be there. All that could not happen without you all. Depending on what happens, they will probably end up doing some home remodeling in order to accommodate Jacob at their home. Thanks again. Here's a pic I lifted from Facebook of Jacob on Oxy talking to his Uncle. LOL

  18. Science Hill has had a lot of athletes over the years as well. I totally agree with you
  19. You do know that on a young, down season we only lost to Dyersburg in the playoffs by less than a touchdown?! You act like those two teams are unbeatable and way above our skill level
  20. Congrats! I’ll be your first. It’s kind of silly. I can see where it would help teams to have more 19 yr olds playing, Not so much for the kid. It’s a sum of the parts I guess. As a coach, I’d rather have 30 who redshirted.
  21. I know of some 8th graders who did it as well hence why I mentioned the other school down the road...
  22. Okay. so how do you fix it? or, do you even fell as if it needs to be fixed?

  24. I've been around youth sports for a long time. I've never heard parents say that they wished they hadn't "redshirted" their child. But, I've known quite a few that wished they had...especially when their child was really young for his/her grade.
  25. I think I remember that the Rebels missed their second extra point making it 13-0 and thus having good reason to go for 2 when they scored again, making it 21-0. But, they continued to go for 2 for the next 4 scores before halftime. At that point, everyone knew a statement was being made.
