  1. Baylor had prior coach contact with Sturgill and he isn’t sitting out but they hired his coach so I guess hush money talks Rule is sit out if you competed in tssaa in prior year and also if you had contact with a coach in past 12 months Sturgill was on teams coached by more than one Baylor coach and his coach from heritage is there now and traveling with varsity as a coach but it would be absurd to make Baylor play by the rules

  2. I’ll bite It’s public record what Allan gives both our programs, and it’s USUALLY the same amount. While it’s very helpful, it does no more than help with yearly facility upkeep, support for club kids who are unfortunate, and supports myself and other coaches in most travel events we have. Coach Knox, myself, and our program have INDEPENDENTLY raised over 100k in the last year alone to give our program/kids every opportunity possible to accomplish the goals they have set. So yes, Cleveland is in a good spot, but it’s bc we put our nose down and work. Not saying others don’t, bc i see it first hand. Programs like Blackman, Cookeville, Seymour, Soddy, Halls and Boyd have be doing the same thing for a long time!!! Looking at the history of your post you seems to enjoy attacking Cleveland every opportunity you can get, which personally lets me know we are still KILLING IT!!! Good news for you, we are only getting better ha…. plenty more content for you to hate on for the next 15 years or so. Look forward to seeing how frustrated we make you. BTW Grant Lundy won State that year

  3. Great to hear from you trader! Yes, 19 average win per season is pretty strong when you consider the down years. As a former Bobcat player from 80-84, I saw Jerry in action and have also coached against him. As a player, he helped me one year when I had a little hitch in my shot. Boys coach didnt catch it but Jerry did and he helped me correct it. That’s a small example of how he has coached well over the years. I’ve experienced what it takes to win a Gold Ball as we won in 2020. You have to have all the pieces, post play, guard play and shooters. I’m not sure he’s ever really had all the pieces to win it in AA. Very few coaches ever win a Gold Ball. I think his record proves his success and respect should be given. His daughter played college ball at Lambuth so I think the negative comment on her was in poor taste. There’s always a better coach out there! Always!

  4. I can't get exact on coach's stipend in McNairy County, but it's figured from entry level teaching salary on percentage and it's low... very low. Not knocking anyone, but if you're going to make a "homerun hire" like South Gibson, you're going to have to offer more. Only a handful of coaches in any sport that most knowledgeable fans can't critique in some area, but those same fans often forget that to do that one little thing better, someone would first have to do everything else just as well and that's rare. Like you stated, more likely the program takes a step back or begins a run of short term hires who either completely fail or succeed and then leave for a better job. If winning were easy, everyone would.

  5. While money certainly helps offset the cost of attending tournaments for the kids it's by no means everything. IMO to be successful at any athletic endeavor you must have the following: 1. Qualified instructors 2. A realistic training plan that includes not only the in-season tournaments but also the offseason tournaments and a "legitimate" strength training program that is documented. Great coaches have every practice planned before the season even begins. 3. An administration that is willing to support the goals of the program. 4. Good training partners. Wrestlers need someone to go live with them that can push them to greatness. 5. A feeder program that is all about developing the talent that shows up. It's easy to go out and recruit kids that are already very good but to take kids that are at the youth level and help them reach their potential is a skill that is very rewarding.

  6. My grandmother is 80 years old & can shoot wide open. If I put pressure on her she probably use it on herself lol pressure change a lot. But in all seriousness they definitely can shoot it when they’re on

  7. Number one I said a lot of it boiled down to their feeder system. Also if it were about money don't you think that a lot of areas of Middle TN such as Franklin and Brentwood and other areas would just be setting the world on fire? There are a lot of areas in TN that have much more wealth than Cleveland and Bradley. Look at the private schools Cleveland wrestles most all of them have huge benefactors but other than Baylor, who usually challenges Cleveland year in and year out? Everyone wants a reason other than what it is. But you can of course think what you want.

  8. Yeah, thats it and thats the only reason. No other coaches care about their programs as much as Cleveland. No other rea$son$ at all.

  10. Listing a handful of transcendent talents that would be good in any era proves nothing boog. Now do their teammates.

  11. Blind draw and I mean blind ( always seem top 2 teams meet in 1st round and one side is loaded and other side not )

  12. If it’s THAT bad, why do you even get on here? Aren’t you complaining now about other people complaining?

  13. This is a good job for someone looking to go to a small school that has been doing things right for 29years. You won't have to worry a lot about work ethic or kids that play hard. Coach Adkins did a great job and his teams were always prepared to play ball. Perks: Small School, great rural setting, revving trucks and creative cheer signs to help create a great football atmosphere. Hard working kids. And maybe the absolute best concession stand in high school football.

  15. Scotty P is a Bernie Voter and thinks everyone is “against” small town schools. He probably is unhappy with his job and possibly his wife. This is his outlet for his own problems and insecurities. Money and population demographics DONT win Championships no matter what stats etc he wants to whine about. I’ve SAID that Coffee Co has a great team. And can play with anyone in the State. But YES that Silly field trip to NH cannot be defended. It was a glorified Field Trip to play a bunch of pathetic lower class teams. Glad the Girls got to see a little bit of NH. But to say that’s a productive way to get better is a total joke. It’s indefensible. I hope and think CC will make a run in the playoffs. They definitely have the talent. But their Coach and AD concern me. Just my opinion
